Gucci Dionysius or Chanel flap

i have decided to buy my first designer handbag but i can’t decide between getting a gucci Dionysius (size small, gg supreme canvas, black suede) or a Chanel jumbo flap bag(caviar, black, ghw). The Gucci is so much less expensive, but is it a trend bag? Is the chanel really worth buying for 5600 $? I can get like three Gucci for one Chanel...
Please help me decide which one,
I really need some help! (English is not my first language, so sorry for that)

Can you go try them on? That might answer your question. I would not settle on something because of price. Buy what you love. I’m not a lover of the Chanel flap. To me it’s ok. Kinda boring. I do like some of the more different Chanel pieces. But the Chanel flap is a classic I know. Good luck.

Buy what you like better, not what is cheaper. If you get Gucci, will you stop thinking about Chanel?
To me they are quite different. I don't like the middle pocket in Gucci, it takes space. I like Dionysus very much, but I bought it because I coudn't get Chanel at that time. Now I have both.

Thank you so much for your answer! Yes I will try them both on the next time i’m close to the store, but i will probobly love them both...
i think i will buy one of them soon and one of them in a year when i graduate from the university. The problem is gonna be which one I should buy first, as a first designer handbag! Thanks again!:)

If you're in college get the gucci first, it's more casual to bring around. I bring my Gucci Dionysus in Medium to campus sometimes. I never feel out of place or like I need to be on guard with my bag, if you know what I mean. No one notices it's a Gucci bag, especially when the back pocket that hides a lot of the GG print is facing their way.

I personally would only feel comfortable carrying a chanel if I'm driving in a car or going to a trendy area. I would not be bringing a chanel to places where college kids hang out in which is usually cool and hip but kinda sketchy neighborhoods lol

Think of your lifestyle and decide which bag will serve you more use right now in your life. If you're going to buy a chanel only to store it away and only bring it out on special occasions, it's kind of a waste of money IMO.

I bought the Dionysus before the price increases back in London a few years back and I think when you convert the pounds to USD it was under 2k especially with VAT return. Now it's close to 2.5k with added sales tax in my state in USA.
Both Gucci and Chanel heavily increase their prices. Chanel pushes it more steadily but when Gucci raises their prices it can be a big jump. From the disco bag to the dionysus price increase.

Point being, if you wait on either bag, chances are the price increase will hit you BUT you already are spending a couple thousand on bags, so a few hundred more is really not that big of a deal.
Buy the bag you will get the MOST use out of RIGHT NOW in your life.
Both bag designs are classics and they're not going anywhere. There is no rush to buy. :yes:

Thank you so much for your answer!! This really helped me!:D As you said im in collage and I probobly will have most use of the Gucci right now in my life. And it actually feels a little bit more ”special” to by a chanel as a graduation-present for myself in a year, and ofcourse I want to use my first designer handbag as much as I can, so the Gucci is probobly the best choice for me:D
