What do you think of this bag...a classic or too dated?..Ive always liked them but missed out when they were selling in store some 5 years or so back...now I've seen one selling on the second hand market...its as new but i'm not sure if I'd be better spending my money on a new Gucci...I'd appreciate your thought...thanks

I think these more robust and classic pieces fit very well with what's going on at Gucci right now (1955, 1961, 1947 are all dates of original models of newly released classic Gucci bags). Can't go wrong with a Gucci camera bag, the Marmont CB-style and the Soho Disco made the camera style so associated with the brand. This is a little different.

This wasn't a popular style and it only came out in black/brown leather and this. I honestly don't think more than a handful of people in each major city in the world know what was Gucci 2016 and is Gucci 2022, influencers and their followers included, because they push new but have such short-term memories and they are all obsessed by one bag in a certain size/colour at a time.

This is a typical camera bag shape and also signifies Gucci with the sig-print canvas, web-stripe and bee. Sounds a lot together but on a simple, small bag really cute (but not too cute IYKWIM).

It's also the way fashion is moving, the trend is to buy what you love, and that doesn't always mean new new, but can mean new to you. The way I think, if I've liked something for a couple of years and I still like it, then I'm not just giving into novelty, it obviously really appeals. Since it's 5 years for you, I'd say go for it.

But

If there's something very new at Gucci that you like equally then of course you must decide.

On my longterm Hitlist:
I still don't have a Dionysus apart from boots (6 years thinking)
Still mulling over a novelty bag from this season v a classic

It's not like most of us are running out of bags to use, take your time. 5 years think? Perfect :ps:

Really!.. I'm pleased and probably surprised...can you say why?
This is classic Gucci imo. I assume the canvas is supreme? (Coated). I would not buy a canvas bag uncoated. My experience and the experience of many others is the uncoated wears terribly. Having said all that, if you’re on the fence about the bag perhaps it’s not love. As Papertiger suggested, if a new bag is appealing perhaps rethink.

Thankyou so much PT...always so informative and the voice of reason with Gucci☺
When it was current I realised it wasn't overly popular...I think the celebrity thread showed a few mostly in the all leather version...maybe that's what has made me question buying it which I know is silly...just because it wasn't popular shouldn't mean it's not right for me? I remember thinking back then that to me that it was classic gucci wrapped up in a practical bag...bee, sig print
(although not the popular coated)and Web...what wasn't to love?...the seller wants £600 for it and says its never been used...coming with receipt from Gucci dated
2016...maybe its my time?

No not coated
canvas...uncoated...which I have no experience of...should I be worried?

As I mentioned, my experience as with others is the fabric bags (uncoated) wear terribly. They are known for wearing terribly. I have a Britt hobo and a wallet both wore out. (Older bags, both uncoated). I personally wouldn’t buy.

Ditto with a 2005 Jackie in uncoated. However it 'went' on the folds and corners and so I don't see this being such a problem for this bag, def something to bearing in mind if it's not a steal.
