Gris Perle v.s. Bleu Glacier Kelly

Hi lovely ladies,

I’m trying to decide which Kelly 25 to get. It’s either Gris Perle Retourne or Bleu Glacier Sellier. The hardware will be phw. Which one do you like more? I’ll be looking on resell market. Thank you.

Bleu Glacier is certainly a beautiful colour, but Gris Perle is more versatile, in my opinion. So I would opt for Gris Perle.

Thank you for the quick reply. I already have a Birkin in Craie with ghw, will Gris Perle be too similar?

They are both beautiful in their own way, Normally I'd prefer a Sellier Ks over a Retourné, but I'd prefer a non-Epsom for a K, so I'd also go for the GP.

The only thing GP has in common with Craie is that they're both fairly light and (unusual) neutrals. They're in the middle of warm/cool but one leans warm (particularly with ghw) and the other cool.

Besides being neutrals with the same resin colour, I do not think there is much that makes either of these colours redundant. I agree with @papertiger re: warm (Craie) vs. cool (GP). There is room for both of these colours in any wardrobe— just my two cents.

I would think more expansively than color here because I actually think the biggest difference in how you'd wear these two bags comes down to the shape. Sellier looks more prim and formal than retourne, which to me is more relaxed and casual. Which fits better in your wardrobe, or which fills a gap in your wardrobe? Both colors are beautiful and very versatile. Also think about the feel of the leather - one appears to be epsom, which is stiffer and has a light texture. The GP I can't quite tell, but probably togo or clemence? Those leathers feel softer to the touch and to me are more luxurious feeling than epsom. But I am a texture person so that kinda thing matters to me. To you it might not.

These are two beautiful colors and both are quite versatile.
IMO the Kelly style (retourné vs. sellier) and leather choice (Togo vs. Epsom in the pics you shared) are going to be more impactful than the color, so I'd get clear on what you are looking for there (especially sellier vs. retourné).

ETA: Also, not all ladies here (you KNOW what I mean haha!!).

ETA #2: Bleu Glacier is one of my very favorite H colors - I have been looking for a bag in BG for years - but I wouldn't take it in Epsom. You're either Team Epsom or you're not 🤷‍♀️

Gris perle as well just based on the photos. But I think the bigger question is do you want sellier or retourne? Craie and Gris perle are kind of similar. Different enough but not thaaat different. If you’re looking for variety in your collection then bleu glacier.

I have both Togo and epsom leather and love them equally. Indeed they’re two beautiful colors, decisions decisions!

Thank you! I love Togo and Epsom equally so I guess I just need to decide if I want a sellier or retourne Kelly.

Yes I know what you mean, my bad😅

I like Yoyo and epsom equally but actually prefer BG in Epsom a tad more.
