I'd like to get some advice from anyone who is knowledgeable about loose leaf green tea.

I brew green tea every morning for my breakfast, but I don't always succeed in getting it right. Occasionally the tea leaves do not unfurl in the hot water; they just sink to the ground of the pot and do not infuse the water. It stays clear and taste-/scentless.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

I always use the same pot and the same type of tea, the only variables I can think of are water temperature and water hardness. Please advise if you know the answer to this riddle or if you've experienced the same. Thank you.

I'm no expert--but, my suggestion would be to warm the pot first.
Swirl steamy water in teapot, then pour out.
Next, add tea leaves first, then pour water over them to brew.

Hope this helps.
