Hi all,

I'm looking for a great-looking and durable bag that can hold a ton (think an extra pair of shoes and an umbrella in addition to the essentials) and can be carried on the shoulder. It needs to be deep and I'm petite, so it'd be great if the bulk is camouflaged somewhat by the bag's design. I'm looking to spend about $1500 and am open to pre-loved. My style is classic/modern/minimalist--no all-over logos or blingy hardware please. I'd like the bag to be leather and have some form of top closure--not just an open tote. Lesser known designers are welcome as long as the craftsmanship and quality are excellent. Bottega Veneta is coming to mind, but I'm not sure what else? Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at MASSACCESI bags, serenity? I just got a bronze Selene from him, and not only is it gorgeous, but it could hold even more than you mentioned. His Minerva will also hold a goodly amount. He makes all of his bags by hand in Ascoli Piceno, Italy - order by order - and his prices are beyond wonderful. Whatever bag you choose, I hope you love it! :smile1:

I love my rough and tumble 3in1 hobo pack- I have the medium and it holds a lot, it is really well made and has a lot of inside pockets. https://www.etsy.com/listing/209848645/new-lightweight-lambskin-hobo-pack-in?ref=hp_mod_rf
Also Laurel Dasso has some really nice leather totes and bags on etsy and she will custom make or change her designs for you to add a zipper. I have the color block Seattle tote and I use it for work quite a bit- it can hold my lunch, extra shoes, SLG, water bottle, iPad and a large wallet

Good luck with whatever you choose! I have owned Balenciaga and tons of Coach but I feel like these bags are a better value and have more organization. I am very happy with both.

Do you prefer structured or slouchy? Any particular type of leather?

Longchamp Le Pliage cuir. Ginormous capacity, zip-top, shoulder or crossbody, and lots of sizes and colours to choose from :-) Depending on size, it´ll set you back about 300-500 and leave you lots of spare change to fill it with goodies!

ETA: Mariapia, GREAT find, thanks! And they have a boutique in Brussels, wheeeee!

This! Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir has been THE best bag purchase of the year for me. I have the Medium size, here's what fits in and how it looks.
It's a soft, slouchy bag that's easy to wear and the color range is wide. You can also order your own, customised version on their website.

Mulberry does great, classic bags. Kensington is one of their new designs, very roomy and stylish. They also make a smaller version. The prices are a bit on the high side but the bags will last a lifetime.

PS. Mariapia, gorgeous bags!

Check out Prada's Vitello Daino line. Great pebbled leather, handles plus a shoulder strap, and a couple of them zip shut. Yes, there is a logo, but it's not overwhelming. I find the Vit. Daino line to be less "blingy" than other Prada models, and the pebbled leather is tough.
