hello ladies...
I got a beautiful pair of Tiffany & Co 8mm freshwater pearls from my lovely boyfriend for Christmas :). Our 6 year anniversary is on New Years Eve and my dbf took me to Tiffany's yesterday to pick out a few things. I chose the matching pearl bracelet and a few others things (we actually spent a great deal of time picking out engagement rings hehe). Also, my 25th bday is coming up in 2 1/2 weeks and my Mom and dbf plan to get me the matching necklace.

These are my first pearls... How do I wear them? Can I wear the studs with my other silver pieces? Or is that a big no-no? I won't be able to wear my bracelet until New Years Eve can I wear the earrings alone. Do I necessarily have to wear the earrings with the bracelet? I'm not too sure if I even want the necklace... Isn't that too matchy matchy? I intend to mix the earrings and the bracelet with my other pieces... ie. The Tiffany's silver beads, the black onyx bracelet, the RTT bracelet and the interlocking Tiffany's circles necklace.
(I will post pics later of my collection).

Thanks!

Don't go to matchy matchy. It's far more exciting to mix and match. It's also nice to wear pearls on an everyday basis and very casual with jeans for example. If your pearls are beautiful, just don't worry and wear them as you like. Pearls mAtch wonderfully with pearls. Enjoy wearing them. I look forward seeing your purchases.

here's my Tiffany's collection... sorry about the quality this was taken with my Blackberry. I just realized I over did pictures during Christmas of my nieces/nephews and have no more room on my camera.

The pearl studs are on the left on top of a box... do you think I can mix/match the studs with other pieces from my collection? *still confused*.

You don't want to go overboard with pearls. Don't wear a bracelet, necklace, and earrings at the same time. Pearls can be worn for dressy or for casual occasions. You can wear them dressed up with diamonds or dressed down worn alone or with silver or gold.

I know you didn't ask about how to care for them but just make sure to take care of them well. Don't wear them in the shower or doing dishes, soap can wear away the enamel. Don't clean them with regular jewelry cleaner, they need to be cleaned very delicately

ITA! I def intended on matching the studs with my silver jewelery. I think they're very understated. The bracelet is def a more special occasion kinda thing. When I showed my girlfriends they said I couldn't wait the studs with silver jewelery...

I def am not into the matchy matchy thing.... I'm not even sure I want the necklace for that very reason. But thanks for the cleaning tips! My Mom already gave me a lecture lol:smile1:

rinse the studs in water to clean after wear and then use alcohol on the posts. i got that advice on here regarding earrings.

i personally do wear an entire pearl set...bracelet, earrings and necklace. and i have a 4 piece set too with a ring. i like how it all looks together, however, i do also wear pearls with other jewelry. today i wore pearl studs, with a silver tiffany heart necklace and for sure you can mix and match all that you have in your collection. pearls are very versatile.

Personally I also mix and match and I like it, even if it doesn't look like it belongs. I do have almost a whole pearl set (only missing a bracelet) but usually I'll wear the earrings and necklace together and then my rose gold ring and silver bracelet or just the earrings and my diamond band with the silver bracelet and it all looks great!

Pearls are beautiful and go with everything! You can never go wrong wearing pearls. I wear mine with all my other jewelry, with jeans or dressed up. If I wear a pearl strand, I usually will wear Diamond studs, that way I can also wear one of my pearl bracelets too. I don't wear pearl studs, necklace and bracelet all together.

You know, there are no hard and fast rules. You can absolutely wear your earrings alone or with other pieces, you can wear the set together when you like. Pearls are very versatile. I wear mine with some longer sterling necklaces for a layered, dare I say "chanel-ish" look, but I love the look of a single strand with a simple neckline top too- it's just elegant and classic.

And you don't want to clean pearls with anything other than a cloth with warm water, and very rarely mild liquid soap. Most cleaners will ruin the nacre. Pearls benefit from the oils on the body when worn, so unless you get makeup or something else on them, they really don't need to be cleaned often at all, and can be ruined from over-cleaning.

I love my pearls! They are so elegant and classy in a very simplistic style. I have a 20" strand of 2mm that I wear along with a 20" delicate white or yellow gold chain and charm that will hang just below the pearls and I have a 24" 3mm strand that I like to wear with a shell top or sweater. What I DO NOT like are pearl enhancers. IMHO, pearls are perfectly awesome all by themselves!
