I got my first Dior bag today!

I have been pondering a Diorama for a while now, but sadly I missed the boat on seeing them in person. And I wasn’t sure I wanted to risk the resale.

I have been looking for something in a WOC to clutch to small bag category for a few years now. With a lot of indecision. I wanted something spacious enough for my essentials: phone, keys, lip product, lotion. I was back and forth on if I needed card slots. I could go either way. I wanted something luxury and understated. Ideally that could work for errands and dress up. I considered black, but in reality I have some Coach ones that fit the bill. Metallic seemed like the way to go as they match everything and work really well for evening. I didn’t want to spend Chanel prices. And I didn’t want something too recognizable.

For this slot in my collection I wanted something somewhat structured (like a Chanel Boy), and east/west orientation. But it also couldn’t be too plain. And a chain strap. And leather interior. I was being very picky, and I looked casually at all sorts of brands like Chloe, Coach, Loewe, Fendi, Celine, Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Polene, Strathberry, Myloue. And I am sure others. I made another visit to the outlets and yet again there was a lot of nothing.

I kept looking at resale thinking about the Diorama, but I hadn’t seen it in the wild. I love the Cannage quilting/pattern. And Dior metallics are so pretty. I was so sad it was discontinued.

I was searching WOCs again, and the Lady Dior Pouch popped up, I had never seen it before. It had good reviews. And was just enough with the quilting and Dior charms. I went to Dior.com to check it out, and I noticed the new variation: the chain pouch.

Inlooked at the colors and considered taupe. As I had been scoping a Ferragamo mini bag in that shade. But couldn’t pull the trigger. Then I saw the metallic. And lucky me it was in my closest boutique.

The website really doesn’t do the gradient justice. It isn’t really pink. Just a nice warm metalllic that starts gokd-ish and ends bronze-ish. So it works well as a daytime neutral and for evening. Compared to the standard Lady Dior Pouch - it is more spacious. The front pocket can fit a smaller case less phone, but that might not be the best purse Tetris - phone in main pocket is likely better. The chain is shorter and is less adjustable - the pearls are in the way. The chain also feels more delicate. The main pocket feels a little deeper as well. On the con side, the card slots and rear slip pocket and front zip pocket are canvas lined. Besides those interiors, all is leather lined. The Dior charm is not removable.

Dior quality seems excellent, the bag I got was the only one in the store, so it seems these are quite limited.

And that is my mini review. And a few photos including what I was able to fit in. I think I will say no to the Diorama unless there is some amazing color.

Congrats! You did a lot of research and found something versatile that meets your needs. It's not just functional, but beautiful too. This is on my wishlist. I'm just waiting on the right color.
I like this better than the regular pouch for sure. That one is also pretty but this has more space in a similar form factor. But I would have appreciated a little more chain length too. I’ll probably alternate with other chains in my collection in some cases.

Congratulations on your first Dior! The reason why the card slots and some flat pockets are canvas lined is because if they were lined in leather, the leather sticks together (if it is not stored with the cardboard inserts that come with the bag), which causes the leather to peel when you try to separate the leather layers. Older bags with flat interior pockets that are leather lined sometimes show a lot of peeling inside the pocket.

Interesting. I have mostly avoided built in card pockets until recently and have never seen an old (older than a few years) bag with card pockets.
TIL for sure.

This is so beautiful! Is the color as dark/bronze as it appears in the photos or does it look lighter under different lights? I'm looking for a neutral "beige" an the taupe is sold out online.

I thought I replied here! So I'd say that it varies from light to medium dark. But lighting matters greatly. I think it feels like a neutral, but it can feel dark towards the bottom.

I know what you mean about the Diorama! I missed the boat too on getting a bag but managed a few years ago to score a metallic Diorama clutch which I was very happy to still be able to get at the time!

Your Lady Dior pouch is lovely! I love this latest version of the pouch, the hanging charms on the front with the separate front pocket definitely makes it more suitable for a clutch or a crossbody. I feel the older design looks more like a WOC if that's your thing, but I like this design more

Shared my Diorama clutch below in case you're interested to see it

This clutch is so cute. I am still tempted. Might have to scope resale more. :)
I love how under the radar these are.

I have a Diorama pouch too (used to own two but sold one). Isn't it such a great little bag? Simple enough to wear crossbody for quick trips during the day and yet dressy/elegant enough for formal wear. I wore it as a clutch for my own wedding. I'm still sad that the Diorama line was discontinued. I don't think any of the new designs that have replaced it (Addict, J'Adior, Caro, 30 Montaigne, Bobby, etc) are anywhere near as beautiful as the Diorama. Plus, the Diorama didn't have huge DIOR or CD branding on it yet still embodied Dior in every way with the signature macrocannage motif.
