Hello, I don't know much about hermes so I went to the website to find a birthday gift for my wife.

I ordered two bags which are shipping to my house next week(?) they are awaiting pickup from toronto shipping facility. Were these good choices?

Thank you.

Bag preferences are entirely personal. Only your wife will know if she likes them and will wear them. For that amount of money it seems very strange not to have consulted her on preferences.

Hermes doesn't love returns. Not sure if the website gives refunds or only credit, hopefully you've looked into that.

You should've consulted her to see which piece she likes more, such as a scarf, sunglasses, vanity case, belt, etc., and then proceeded from there.

Also these are not the iconic Hermès handbags (Kelly and Birkin) so it doesn't have the status. You could've got an iconic handbag from a different top brand for that price.

I think you're incredibly thoughtful, it depends on her personal taste as to whether she'll like them, my favourite is the Lock Picotin, please let us know how you get on.

Yes, those are good choices - can you look at bags she already owns and compare the styles? Does she have a lot of cross body bags already? You could either decide because she likes those to go with Arcon, or to give her the Picotin for something different.
I personally would prefer the Picotin as I think the Arcon would be very small. But, if she has a lot of big bags already then it could be the correct choice.

Gosh, that 's a bit harsh IMO. I am one of the few people who like to choose their own presents. Most of my friends prefer their partner to choose and show thoughtfulness that way.

IMO, there are plenty of people who adore Hermes but choose other bags. Not everyone cares or considers status, let alone one dictated by a bag or brand.

National laws on all online sales and returns will take precedence rather than and H preferences. In the UK for example, I believe anything that hasn't been viewed in-person can be returned for a full refund.

I also prefer the Picotin and think this is such a fun color. Of course, as others have mentioned, I don't know you're wife's style, wardrobe, or needs, but I imagine she will appreciate any gift that you were thoughtful enough to buy her. I am not accustomed to anyone buying me gifts, but I think it would have more special meaning if someone did choose for me.

This is a lovely gesture & hope that she will be happy with either of your choices.
What a celebration she will have!!

I understand the suggestion of "consulting" to try to ensure someone likes the gift, but that also takes away the element of surprise which I think is the best part about gifts. I also think it's fun to receive something that i might not have necessarily bought for myself but will still enjoy.

Hermes is known for quality and "status" even if not a B or K (while it goes without saying that those are on another level entirely). Our perceptions may be skewed by this forum, but most people can't get, can't afford, can't fathom spending that much on a bag even if they could afford it, or simply don't care about owning those bags. Just saying.
