Gold tank for "BIG" B'day

I have a very BIG b'day coming up and my DH want to get me a gold Cartier Tank Americaine watch. I am a little nervous and unsure about such an expensive watch.

I have a few questions and would appreciate any input.

If anyone has this watch.... are you happy with it?

Do you wear it every day or save it for special occasions?

My trustworthy local jeweler can get me the watch for 26% off retail. Is this a good price?

OMG-if you can get the watch at a 26% discount, you are getting a great deal!! High-end watches such as Rolex/Cartier base cost typically runs 40% back off of retail. Being gold though this watch will need a little TLC......will not wear as ruggedly as a stainless watch. Good luck with your decision. A better gift for a 'big' birthday.

26% is a good price. Shop around though to other jewelers to make sure they can't beat the price. Such a pretty watch - please post pics when you get it!

I love the tank americaine - it's such a gorgeous design and a little bit less well known than the tank francaise.

I stopped into London Jewelers to look at their Cartier selection and tried on the Tank American with diamonds. WOW!!!!!! The sales associate was very helpful. I asked if pricing was firm and was told that when I was really ready to buy they would discuss prices.
This is all very exciting.
I wasn't looking forward to my BIG birthday but if it comes along with a special Cartier watch.... LET'S CELEBRATE !!!!!
