:smile1: Hi all! So I have a friend that is wanting to buy a dainty little necklace that she can wear all the time. Like, in the shower, and such. I told her as long as she stuck with real gold, it shouldn't tarnish or discolor. I know with soaps and shampoos some stuff can be harsh, but she is really looking for something she doesn't have to mess with. No stones, just a tiny chain and maybe an initial on it.

Any help or advice would be great!

Thanks in advance! ;)

I've been wearing the same chunky gold bracelet since I got it 18 years ago. It's 18 K gold and hasn't changed a bit. Just need to clean it sometimes to add some shine, other then that it's still the same b

I suggest a chain that feels smooth on the skin and doesnt get easily entangled with hair or clothings. I like gold but i also find tiffany silver chains very comfortable to wear daily.

I second that. I wear a gold chain necklace (with a sapphire pendant) all the time for nearly 20 years now, and it hasn´t changed at all.

White gold with rhodium finish will need to be re-plated, but Yellow gold would be fine for daily wear, even in the shower. In my experience, gold that is less than 18kt can tarnish tough. Perhaps it's better to stick at 18kt-22kt, 24kt is too fragile for daily wear.

I wear a Helen Ficalora 14K gold disk with K in pave diamonds everyday and in shower, etc.
I actually talked to Helen herself in Dallas at her store about 4 years ago and she said the best way to clean her disks with initials is with soap and water! Thats was I do and mine looks like new after 8 years.
