Today at the outlet I picked up an expensive ($39) heart locket keyfob .

I don't know how to remove the plastic thing inside to insert a picture.
The plastic has a metal gold frame that somehow snaps in there and I'm afraid to remove it to add a pic because it feels like it may bend or break. Does anyone have one of these and can let me know how to remove the plastic piece that protects the picture without causing damage?

I feel like returning it if I cannot figure it out. I haven't harmed it. This is difficult. Does it even remove at all?

I almost purchased the same in the boutiques.....my hubby asked the SA to open it up so we wouldn't have issues at home and the SA along with the manager , bent and broke three in a row..........they along with us aggreed it wasn't possible to open without damaging the lockit. If you find a way to open it........please pass on the info.

I waited patiently for this keyfob to hit the outlets as I've always wanted it but now I have it and it isn't "practical" or picture friendly, I'm gonna return it. What good is a locket if you can't put a picture. Legacyprincess, that was smart of your hubby to ask the SA to try to open it up and even they cannot do it. Good thinking.
I didn't break mine or even bend it so it's returnable.

The reason I always wanted this heart locket is after seeing the Coach model with it in my old catalog. But I really don't want it now if it can't hold a picture of us in there.

I have a fob very similar just a different shape. There is a little indentation on the top right. If you place your finger nail under it it just pops out. (See pics) Then there are 2 very small nubs at 12 and 6 oclock that line back up into tiny slots and the ring snaps back into place. They have to be linded up right or the ring will not snap back in the groves on the inside of the fob. It is really easy after you do it once. I can see by the pics you posted that there is the same indentation in the heart shaped one too. Hope this helps.

Thank you pzold, you took great pics by the way. I tried this with my fingernail at the indentation and even slid my fingernail half way around to the first nub and gently lifted but it stayed tight in there and just felt like the metal frame was starting to bend. It wouldn't pop out. I was afraid to force it as I knew the frame would bend if I did. Maybe mine is defective or difficult?

Awh sad, it is very pretty! Maybe when you go to return it you could ask an SA to help you and then if they get it to work you can keep it!? Hmmmm good luck! Love your new signature the rainbow cow is too cute!

The first time was difficult and I was afraid of the same thing. There is a trick to it. Admittedly the heart shaped one may not come out as easy because there is probably a little uneven tention at the "V" point. Try one more time, just putting your finger nail under the ring where the indentation is, and lift up and back at the same time with a "QUICK" snapping motion. Prying slowly does cause my ring to bend too. Mine came out hard the first time and after I got it out once it just pops right out now. Alternatively, have the SA do it the first time as suggested a few posts back. I just love mine.... I hope it works for you!

I have the round one as well. It really was a little tough getting it out, mine was bent just a tad but I was able to reshape it and get it put back in.

I'll tell you what I did have a problem with on this was the pin that goes in the hinge to keep the locket front and back together kept falling out. That is a tiny little pin, I can't believe I never lost it in my pocket or in the bottom of my bag. I ended up just putting a little bit of clear super glue at the top of the hinge to keep the pin in - it's worked so far.

That's how mine broke. The little pin kept falling out. I had the heart one also. I didn't lose the pin either, just like you said I don't know how I found it, it's so so small. After the 5th or 6th time falling out I just returned it.

I'm not going to try to remove the plastic frame anymore. I think if it breaks they won't let me return it. If it might have hinge problems as well then it's not for me. I think $39 was a lotta money, I'm going to get a wristlet instead.
