Glue leaching out on Dionysus??

Hi everyone, I’ve had the Dionysus GG Supreme mini bag for just under a 2 years now (purchased in Las Vegas). About 6 months ago I noticed some discoloration around the seams near the bag closure- I thought I may have spilled something on it which would be unlikely since I baby my bags. I also don’t carry this bag super frequently nor in wet weather due to the suede. However, over time more spots continued to pop up along the edges of the front and back of the bag. It seems like a glue is used to fuse the suede backing to the canvas material is leaching out?
I’ve attached some pictures here.
Has anyone experienced this? What should I do? I would not want to use goo-gone as a DIY fix.
I’m also unsure of what to expect if I were to email customer service. There was a pop up Gucci boutique in my city but I believe that’s ended, or closed for awhile due to COVID. Do we think it could be a defect? Thank you!

The glue was probably on there, wiped off but let traces and as averagejoe said has turned yellow over time.

It's probably out of warrantee now but you should email Gucci those pics and see if they can do anything for you.

The glue has oxidized and turned yellow. An easy way to remove this is some lighter fluid on a Q-tip (cotton swab). Apply some ligher fluid to a Q-tip, and gently work away at the yellow stains. It works miracles on glue stains.

Hi there, thank you so much for the reply! Do you recommend a particular brand of lighter fluid? Would something like acetone work instead? I really don’t want to stain or damage the bag of course, but this does seem like an easy fix. Thank you!

I think I will reach out to Gucci and see before trying to clean the glue off. If they can’t offer any assistance I will be trying the lighter fluid idea! Thanks for the reply :)

Do not use acetone. It's not lighter fluid. Acetone would destroy the surface of the GG canvas.

Lighter fluid is simply a hydrophobic substance like butane, which evaporates quickly so it has little time to absorb into the material it is applied to. It also vanishes, unlike creams and oils that will then leave a different kind of stain on the surface. It doesn't matter what brand it is from. I find that stains like glue stains are more hydrophobic in nature anyway, so they clean off well with other hydrophobic substances.

Gucci's craftspeople should be very familiar with cleaning off glue so definitely give them a try (when they're back). Until then maybe email so the issue is logged. Reach out through your SA or local store, CS can be potluck

I actually did have success with customer service. Although it was a very, very long process. Shortly after I initially posted here in April I filed a case via email and they asked me to send the bag back to them with a prepaid label for review/inspection. However, shortly after receiving the bag Gucci customer support center was shut down for quite a long time due to Covid. I checked in for an update every 2-3 weeks which was frustrating. Finally by the end of June I heard back with a resolution and they offered a replacement or credit note. I asked for the credit and used it to buy the medium size in the same color way. In early August I got a call from the original boutique (in Vegas) I purchased the bag from as they were taking over the logistics of my case. They processed my new purchase and sent the bag from their store inventory and I received in mid August.

Hey! So sorry for the delay in response. I did not have my original receipt but I knew the exact date and store (crystals in Vegas) I purchased it from ( because I was on vacation), they had asked for any details and I assume they were able to track it down because there were no questions after.

Nope :( lockdown has been extended for two weeks. I wouldn’t know when the bag was purchased since I bought it preloved. I’m still stressed out about it but I can only patiently wait. Though without purchase proof I doubt they would do anything...sadly. But you’ve been extremely helpful and informative

Hi everyone, I have same experience with @Kikiweasel :sad:
Bought the dionysus small in 2016, I rarely used it but it is stored in its dust bag and I regularly take it out of the dust bag once in a while (if I'm not wearing it).
However, last month I noticed several sticky spots on the bag [which I don't know when it started appearing] and I brought it to the store where the bag was purchased. They said they will email Gucci Italy to ask regarding this matter.
After waiting around 2 weeks, they called me to inform that this happens due to storage and wear & tear, and there is nothing they can do to repair it.
I feel a little disappointed since there is no solution from them. I think I will bring and ask local bag spa whether they can fix it.
