Hi!

I am looking for a bag to carry my smaller essentials for work. I already carry a larger tote for work-related items.

I've narrowed it down to the Givenchy nightingale in small or medium brown OR a Proenza Schouler medium ps1 in saddle.

Which bag should I get? Which bag do you like better? If it matters, I am a working mother in my mid-thirties. My style is minimalist and neutral with an emphasis on good shoes, scarves, and bags. I briefly considered the chanel gst in black with shw but decided it was flashier than what I'm used to.

Pics of my two choices are below. Thank you.

I have seen both IRL, I prefer the Nightingale. I think the PS1 leather is not as beautiful as the Givenchy's. I also think the price is a little high for this kind of bag.

The look of each bag is completely different. The PS1 is casual and easy to carry. The Nightingale is also easy to carry but less so than the PS1 but can be dressed up. You can't lose either way. My vote, the Nightingale because of leather quality.

Personally, not a fan of the PS1 as the leather scratches easily and shows water spots (although, perhaps these quality issues have been rectified by now?). The Nightingale is effortless chic.

Tough one. I love the look of the PS1 but there have been lots of quality issues which I don't know whether PS has fixed. I've looked at that bag several times but find it's just too hard to get in and out of to use regularly. The clasp would drive me crazy,

Really love the look of the Nightingale, and that particular leather looks really luscious. I think the quality on the Givenchy is better. My issue with the Nightingale, every time I've tried it on, is the shoulder strap. It's not long enough for cross-body wear, and what's more, the handles stick out awkwardly when you use the shoulder strap. If the handles folded down in some way, I probably would have bought a Nightingale a long time ago.

So, I'd probably give the edge to the Givenchy, but really, I'm of no help!

Minority vote here--I like the PS1 much better. I have one in Concrete (a beautiful light gray) that I am using as my spring/summer work bag and I adore it so far (caveat--I've only recently purchased it and can't comment on how it holds up over time). I don't get the Nightingale. Yes, the leather looks beautiful, but it looks bulbous and awkward to me. It never would have occurred to me that it could be a work bag.

The PS1 is lightweight and holds more than it looks like it would. I can fit an extra pair of shoes in it when necessary (in addition to a wallet, sunglasses, umbrella, and makeup pouch). I also think it can look feminine and polished (not just urban cool, though it can do that too) in the right colors (saddle is one). I also love the organization.

Have you considered the Mulberry Alexa? I like my PS1 more, but if I had to guess which of my bags would hold up the best over time, I'd pick my Alexa. I have an oversized one and it's my go-to when I have to carry a lot of stuff/expect bad weather etc..

The nightingale gets my vote. Its a serious workhorse. Its my most used (and abused) bag but it still looks great. It can fit far more things in it than I need so that's always a plus. It looks perfectly fine with work wear or casual wear.

Good luck with ur choice.
