Hello! I'm a new member so hopefully am not doing anything too terrible.

I received the Tiffany Save the Wild Rhino charm in rose gold for Christmas. It's so cute and I plan to wear it as an everyday necklace, but will have to buy a chain to wear it with. I have two questions:

First, is it worth it to get the matching Tiffany chain? It's much more expensive than non-branded chains, but I don't want to have clashing colors. Will the Tiffany cable chain hold up to constant wear, or should I take it off to sleep, etc.? What about the bead chain?

Second, what length would you recommend for an everyday necklace? This is literally the only pendant that I own (I don't have a lot of jewelry!), so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'm 5'7", size 4-6, and have a 12.75" circumference neck.

I've attached a picture of the charm!

Welcome to tPF!
I don't own any Tiffany RG jewelry but I'd be tempted to spring for the RG Tiffany chain. The RG color will be exact. As far as size...maybe the 18". Adorable charm!

I love the charm! If possible, I'd suggest going into the store and try on the different lengths to see what you like the best. I'd probably spring for the Tiffany chain as I know myself and I'd wind up buying it anyway. Enjoy!

Cute piece! I would definitely spring for the Tiffany chain- it will match exactly. Go for the traditional chain over the beaded- it is stronger. Length of chain is more of a personal preference. I prefer chains to be shorter at the neck- so 16 inch works for me. My friend, who is 5’8” also likes shorter lengths. However I have friends that cannot stand anything close to the neck- 18 inches for them. I recommend going to the store and trying it on to see what you feel comfortable wearing. You can always buy an 18 inch length and ask Tiffany to put a ring at the 16 inch mark so you can wear it both ways (you will have a piece of chain hanging behind your neck when wearing at 16 inches). I don’t know what the additional charge would be for that, however.

+1 for getting a Tiffany chain. I also vote for 18” chain but you could go 16” and buy a necklace extender from Amazon to get some flexibility with the length

Adorable charm! I guess I'm the only one that would go with a nonbranded chain, I think the color would be similar enough as the chain will be pretty thin. I also like a 2-toned look and would wear it on a silver chain some of the time. I would go with a 16" chain that has a built-in extender or add an extender for flexibility.

@machzibia Welcome to TPF!

I have the Tiffany RG Elephant charm, and a 18" thin RG chain, also from Tiffany. Most of the time I layer with my DBTY 16" chain, as pictured (sorry for the bad lighting!). I don't know my neck size, but the 16" chain for the charm didn't sit well on me

I don't think you NEED to get the matching chain, but I personally think the Tiffany RG is a little less rosy than some other jewelers, so it could be hard to match. Although unless someone was looking super closely, they probably wouldn't know the difference. Tiffany jewelry also lasts a long time so another reason I would say it's worth it to spend the money.

Good luck and congrats on a great piece!

I would for sure get the Tiffany chain. As for length, my neck is thin as well. I would go with the 16”. The 18” for me lands in no man’s land for me and is not flattering. Also, it gets lost with clothing to me as it’s neither here or there (not a short necklace and not a long chain). A 16” or shorter works best on me.

I don’t know how big that piece is, but if it’s a small pendant, you could even go shorter. For example, for DBTY, it’s so dainty I like it to sit right at the hollow of my neck, so I always ask Tiffany to shorten delicate pieces for me to 14” which they do for free. Be sure to ask for the extra links back.

Congrats to you on this piece.

Thank you for the advice! I took people's suggestions and went to a Tiffany location nearby. I ended up getting the 18" chain which I found to be more flattering on me than the 16". I'll definitely consider the suggestion about adding in a jump ring at 16", though!

The 18 is perfect on you!!

So beautiful, congratulations and enjoy!! I too prefer an 18" length as it's much more flattering on me.
