I'm looking for some drawstring handbag suggestions for my mom for Christmas. I got her the Flo kisslock and slim wristlet in black black, so far. And the bag I purchase will have to be black.

I've narrowed down some ideas to:
  • vintage Coach #9952 (resale sites)
  • D&B Flo small Drawstring
  • D&B Hattie
  • D&B Logan (resale sites)

If you have any of these bags, can you share your experience with said bag. Are they heavy? Do they wear well?

If you have any others to suggest, that I overlooked, please do.

I have the Florentine Hattie and Small Logan.

The Small Logan is a great bag.... good medium size, light weight,
and outside pocket. The only downside is the D/S slide has a tendency
to slide down. Usually, if I just cross the ends, the slide stays in place.
Theis is a known issue, but not a major problem as the bag still stays
sinched even if the slide isn't in place.

The Flo Hattie is very large and very heavy. It's a beautiful bag,
but not an easy carry. Also, the logo lock closure on one end of the
strap is known to open, randomly, when the bag is on the shoulder,
causing the bag to fall down. I've never had the problem but it's
a major issue and some people have resorted to gluing the logo lock
closed after experiencing the problem. I have a theory as to why the
logo lock opens, but since it seems to happen to many, I would not
recommend the Hattie, especially a preloved one. Preloved means the
bag has been used, and the leather has softened, and this will increase
the likelihood of the issue, in my opinion.

I don't have the small Flo D/S, but I do have a small Dooney
D/S in ostirch. It's a cute bag, but I find it too small.
The small Logan is much roomier and a much better size.

The only Coach D/S I have is a medium sized Dempsey.
It's about 2 years old, I bought it new from Coach.
It's not a vintage bag. The bag I have does not
seem to be very high quality. I noticed glazing issues
after the first use.

My final recommendation... small Florentine Logan.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the information.

I was just on Dooney reading the reviews on the Hattie. And yeah, I'm going to cross that one off my list.

The Logan leather looks very soft. Is it?

I'm leaning toward the Logan or 9952. It's just finding either in full black. And not at a crazy price.

Yeah, this is my problem with new Coach now. I don't find the quality of the bags to be on par with their vintage. Plus, I feel like they're marketing towards the younger crowd.

The Logan is sooooooo AWESOME. Comfrtable carry. Goldilocks bag, not too big and not too small. Not very heavy. Does your mom like smaller bags? Does she carry a lot? gloves hat and scarf will fit in the small Logan plus wallet wristlet glasses keys. It’s very roomy and one of my favorites. Last year I think it was in the holiday glitch sale. I’ve seen videos of people showing their 2 bags they got during the sale.
the Florentine drawstring is cute very luxurious. I’m all for vintage coach in great giftable condition but I know they’re very pricy

Coach outlet in my opinion is lacking from what I know as coach. Coach boutique looks better to me, The leather I mean. they will have similar bags but you can tell which is which. if that names any sense

I second some of the things LJ brought up regarding the Hattie. It's not a light bag & it is large. Pic is in light taupe. Without an organizer items roll around in it. I do love drawstrings tho & if I was in the market for another I'd choose the small pebble leather in geranium. That's a cute bag that doesn't have the logo lock. Oh oops nevermind - I see it has to be black.

when you went to Aurora, were items cheaper there than ILD - ebay?
some yes. my wallet was a few dollars more. my pebbled double zip was $68 instead of $55 in the last sale. they didn't have Florentine double zip wristlets, only pebbled. my large satchel was cheaper than I've seen them on ild eBay. all the satchels were cheaper. they didn't have many Florentine SLGs. I know the pebbled mail bag was cheaper. all the bags were 40% off. and the clearance table like 70% off. that sale on ild eBay where the coin cases were $25 the wallets $35 was cheaper thank the outlet. the small red and white coated canvas cArrington was $31

they didn't have any Logans and I didnt see any domed satchels. I did see Camerons and Hatties and Allisons. in my mind I went there for a large navy satchel so my focus wasn't really there. ill be going on Black Friday and what I don't get in store ill get online cyber Monday....

I think you and mom should go and she could try on and get the feel for the weight and sizes in hand. then u can order online

Yes and no.
She's ... complicated. 😅
It has to be a black colored bag.
Nothing too heavy. She said my large flo satchel was too heavy.
I'm looking at the nano flo satchel right now, and that little thing is 3lbs!
when it comes to the smaller satchels nano, micro, because they're compact they will be heavy, not as heavy as the large tho. maybe the mini might work best. the openings of the nano and micro might make it harder for her to get to her things. those openings are tiny and maneuvering my iPhone 12 Pro Max in and out with my junk in with it = pain in the butt tetris. when I go ill be looking at the mini. the small didn't work for me because of my iPad. I think the mini would be perfect if I didn't want to take my iPad.

if you take her to the outlet she could handle them and you could gauge which style she gravitates towards.

I think the mini size in the Flo satchel is perfect. It's roomy
and not too heavy. But it's heavier than the small Logan (I think),
and a totally different look, Also, the Flo satchel design with the
foldover zipper can be annoying to get in and out of the bag.
And the mini has a much smaller opening than the large Flo satchel.
Unless the zipper area is folded over to smile, the handle carry on the
mini Flo satchel is very, very, very short and can't be slipped over the arm.

wow. I didn't know the mini is heavier than the Logan... alrighty then... I could use another Logan in a different color... I was thinking if mom has arthritis the tiny openings of the smaller satchels would be problematic. trying to sift thru that tiny opening to get to something might be a reason to not reach for the bag. I will have to see what's in the store...
