I think the gold hardware looks a bit nicer with the red, although it also depends on what jewelry you normally wear. If you wear silver-coloured jewelry more often, then go with the silver hardware.Which do you think looks more striking/would get more use? What shoes would go with this bag, assuming I wouldn't want to necessarily have matching red shoes. Metallic? Black and have the bag as the only pop of color?

Love the gold hardware with the bag! Stunning bag btw.
Black, grey, leopard print- any neutral really. Let the bag shine
I love both. I do think the silver has a younger and more edgy feel to it, and the gold gives the red a tad more depth. I think it would be best to look at your style and the look that you want. Do you want to wear this with a long camel coat and your hair pinned in a bun, or are you going to wear this with combat boots, a bright blue biker jack and nonchalant uncombed hair?
I feel that the color of the shoes is best matched with the color of your clothes. I love red with camel, grey and greens but even those can differ. I think that you don't need to match yours shoes with your bag anymore. A red bag with an all black outfit is not my style but you might love it.
When I wanted to pair my red bag I found it more difficult than a black bag. I just typed in red bag outfits or red bag street style and got so many examples that I drew inspiration from. Maybe that might help you to? But mostly I'd advise to look at your style and with what kind of outfits you want to pair this bag and work from there.

As for shoes, I agree with @A bottle of Red .
