then my new bought never used bags.
Is it the fact that I've found good quality bags for under NZ$10 each...or is it that every one of my new bags when I opened the packages I was slightly dissappointed?...dont get me wrong...I do love my new bags...but am using my thrifted bags more.

Anyone else ever had the same feelings and done the same thing?
Or am I all alone in the world with this?

Preloved is my jam! Most of my luxury&designer items have been preloved and many have moved on to someone else's collection after I've gotten bored or the item has no use in my life anymore.
I used to be really neurotic and soooo overly careful of my bags that I'd just leave them in my closet. I got over the hump by getting into preloved which has already seen some life.

I do own several pieces I bought new - all but a couple Longchamp pieces I bought at a serious discount. The prices nowadays are ridiculously high and I could never have gotten into designer or luxury if I hadn't developed an eye for a bargain over the years.
I've made some really sweet deals and even managed to turn a profit after paying close to nothing for an item and then selling it for the current preloved market price.

Regardless of price, I love all the items I have in my bag closets.

I think people buy used bags to gain stories & history, also.
To feel connected to past owners. To feel part of larger community--even if only a community of 1 bag.
To know they will sell bag again, having added own use story to materials.
And carry connection to next owner.
To feel less lonely in world, perhaps.

Unfortunately, I do not feel this way about bags.
And buy new.
Without any issue setting bags on ground, carrying in rain, dropping accidentally, etc.
Then donate when grotty.
Practical & boring.:shrugs:

My absolute favourite bag is preloved but not because I am seeking any kind of connection to the past or the previous owner. It is just plain and simple better than anything in the market in recent years. 1995 Chanel quilted lambskin, 3 section, flap with a soft comfortable crossbody strap. It’s become a bit of a beater bag so I don’t fuss over it, I’ll probably never see another one like it and could never replace it. It’s definitely “my bag” & it’s “story” ends with me! I wish I could walk into a store and buy another one just like it but I know it will never happen.

Is that your thrifted one?

Wow...I was just happy to find my Guess hobo for $7...
Amazing find...must have been really exciting.
Haha. I’ll never forget it! ;)
I asked to look at it as in was in “The Case”. They had it marked at $59.99. I had it in my hands, turning it round and round and was pretty sure it was authentic but I did say something about questioning authenticity. The Chanel ladies on tPF later confirmed it for me as well as the Chanel boutique that I took it to months later. The clerk tried to take it out of my hands and we had a few seconds of “back and forth” with it before she pried it out of my hands. hahaha. She took it to the back to discuss it with her coworkers and proudly announced to me that she had gotten them to mark it down to $29.99! Talk about a “Start the Car” moment!!!
