HI Everyone :)
So lately I've been just browsing so much for gemstone jewelry. I really want to get a piece for my birthday in December. I would get it in order of this: necklace, ring, or earrings. I'd like to stick to a $500 budget as much as possible.

A little about me. I am 5'4" very tan skin (I'm dark lol), and dark hair so the gemstone will have to suit me well of course (like I don't think anything pink would look good on me, besides it's not my favorite color).

If you can recommend any websites, stores, and even post links, i would really appreciate it! I don't know a whole lot about jewelry so this will be my time to learn as well!

Tiffany's just put out some gorgeous new gemstone pendants... they are on the US site under "new from Tiffany" and the prices are pretty good for the ones that are set in sterling.

try www.laurenklein.com she has really pretty gemstone pieces that are modern but still classic in everything from yellow to pink to green gold. I just order a pink gold and diamond initial necklace so im a little biased:p but do check it out, great prices aswell!!

Judith Ripka has a gemstone line in sterling. Her pieces are beautifu and run from about $100 to $350. Try her website or QVC. Other than that I would suggest a local jeweler. I think with your coloring either citrine, spessartite garnet, or green stones like chrome diopside, green amythist or even peridot. If you're able, ruby and emerald are gorgeous, too. This may sound ridiculous but I have found the most gorgeous and unique pieces on SmartBargains.com. They're affiliated with Loehmann's so they're totally legit. I have gotten my mom many beautiful pieces from the site and she's never disappointed.

can you please post pictures (or anyone for that matter) who have bought jewelry from his site? I'm interested to see how it looks while worn, whichever piece of jewelry it is!

will you, by any chance, have a sample photo of which ones you have bought from smartbargains? i have looked in their site before and i do agree they have nice ones...however, i'm always skeptical of how it would look IRL. thanks in advance!

I am a big fan of colored gemstones. I have bought a lot of loose gems and gemstone jewelry from jewelry television. They have a HUGe selection and the prices are great. I see you are a Dec baby - they have beautiful blue zircons loose and in jewelry. That is a natural gemstone in case you didn't know. Check it out.

thanks to everyone posting in this thread :) i really appreciate it.
i actually really like david yurman pieces as well, and could spend a bit over my budget. however, most of their stuff are silver whereas i could get it for the same price from some who have then on at least a 14K white gold. which one would be a better pick?

sorry, i am completely clueless when it comes to jewelry :confused1:

if you want david yurman, call around to some of the neiman marcus last call stores. they carry it, and i bet you can find a piece in your price range.
