Hello ladies,
I recently bought a fur coat, which reaches a little under my knees.
Wearing it at the mountains where there'll be snow is the reason why I bought it in the first place. In the city, where I live, it rarely gets colder than 8 degrees Celsius.
But seeing that fur is very in this winter, would I be able to pull it off in the city.
I need suggestions as to how I can dress it down and not seem too snobby.
Keep in mind that I am 29 years old.

is it real fur? if it doesnt get cold where you live it will never look quite right, no matter how much you dress it down.

the only thing came to my mind is - is it safe to wear fur coat in your city? as long as no one is going to walk up to you and give you a hard time...i say go for it.
the scene in SATC where samantha got attacked was kind of scary.

First, I would not wear fur when it is actually snowing out. I would wear it if it is cold out, but not if its raining or actually snowing. If its possible to avoid the snow or rain, avoid it.

What does 8 celcius equal in Fahrenheit temperature? I think I recall that 0 celcius equals 32 degrees (or the freezing point). If that is the case, then yes you can wear fur if its in the 30s (or 8 or so celcuis).

I live in the northeast U.S. and wear fur in the winter all the time.

8 celsius is 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
My main concern is how to make a fur coat look casual.
Here in my country most women who wear fur are in their 50s. And they do not wear fur everyday, usually on dressy occasions like a fancy dinner or a wedding.
But since this season fur is very in, faux fur mostly, ( all brands have introduced fur items in their collections, even more affordable ones like H&M and Zara ), I won't be the only one my age wearing fur.
But how do I dress it down??

Hmm. Well 46 degrees is a little warm for a fur coat that is long (to below the knees). But if you want to wear it, yes it can be casual. If the temperatures are hovering to 50 degrees, I would say no fur as it will be too warm.

I wear fur casually all the time. With jeans it looks great. I have a long mink and a short sable and wear both depending upon how cold it is.

Enjoy your new fur!

It seems like u know a lot about fur. Mine is called Fisher, is that any good?

Full length furs are very difficult to dress down but shorter jackets are very easy. Obvious pairing a fur with jeans is very popular now. The Olsens do work their furs well in a casual way, I agree.

Good luck!
