Oh dear, ooooh dear. :wtf:
We moved into a lovely little block of flats 1,5 months ago; the house is nearly 100 yrs old and we love it here. Yesterday I met a larvae in our kitchen. This wasn't a huge surprise since this is a wooden house, 94 yrs old, so I kind of expected something like this to happen at some point.
I recognized our little unwelcome guest with the help in the internets and lo and behold - it was a fur beetle larvae.
I read up on the subject and it seems they like to eat wool and fur and, in some cases, leather. We have very little wool clothing, not a piece of fur in the house but leather...well, shoes and MY BAGS! I'm so nervous and would like some advice from everyone who has faced the same threat.
How did you protect your items, has anyone had a leather item destroyed by fur beetle larvae and how did you get rid of them?

How do I get rid of fur beetles?
To get rid of carpet beetles in your home, start by thoroughly vacuuming all of your carpets and upholstered furniture. Look for clothes, linens, and towels that have been eaten away, and discard them to prevent the infestation from spreading. Then, wash your non-infested linens with hot, soapy water.

Personally, I would call a pest control company there’s too much at stake ie; clothing, leather, etc.
