I was early for my facial last week and so I sat down in one of the 3 comfy waiting chairs until my facialist was ready for me and read a magazine. The other 2 chairs were empty so I put my cabat on the middle chair so she didn't need to go on the floor.

A lady soon walked in and noticing it was just her and no one else, I kept my cabat on the chair. I noticed she was staring at me so I said, "Hi". She said, "I know this sounds silly, but I just got this new Coach bag and it's really expensive. Would you mind if I put your bag on the floor and put my bag on the chair?"

I laughed (as only someone who knows the value of the cabat can laugh) and said, "sure" as I put my cabat on my lap and said how nice her bag was (it was nice). She happily chatted away about her love of designer bags and wrote down some information for me in case I wanted to "upgrade" my purses in the future.

P.S. Now you know why I never post in the BV Sightings thread...

Oh my gosh, that is such a funny story. She was probably on cloud 9 with her bag she didn't even look at the wonderful detailing of the BV bags. She will soon learn  LOL!

I have found that when I started with designer bags I started with Coach and now upgraded to the wonderful BV bags!

However, I am glad she is enjoying her bag. And am estatic that you love yours!!

Anyone else have a story? I think this could be a fun thread!

(Tegan, my first purse was a $40 Etienne Aigner in college that lasted forever and was so smooth - I thought I was the cat's meow!)

Here is my funny story. Two years ago when the PO Cabat came out, my DH was going to get it for me as a birthday gift. On our vacation to SF we stopped in the boutique to look at it. I tried it on and fondled it, and the DH took one look and said "that looks really ugly and cheap, like it is made of plastic."

I did get the Torchon bag in Ebano/Nero, which I am very happy with, but c'mon...cheap, ugly, and plastic???

MissFB - it was great to hear that she valued her bag enough to keep it off the floor. Did you tell her about the PF? BTW, I just finished cleaning and re-conditioning a thirsty vintage Coach messenger bag for a friend and the leather was wonderful back in the 70's.

My house was recently robbed and they took the time to open up at least 1/2 the bags to check and see if any valuable were inside but left the bags strewn all over the second BR. My DH said, "wow guess they weren't fashion connoisseurs." And then DH laughed how they didn't take the time to go through all the bags....he said, "I bet they said WTH is w/ all these purses?"

Miss_FancyBags, I would be annoyed if someone asked me to put my bag on the floor! You must be very good natured

Longchamp, sorry to hear that your house was robbed. Good thing they didn't take your bags though.

OMG!! these stories are so funny.
My Dad bought me my large belly Veneta before he died. He knew he wouldn't make it my birthday. He didn't have false teeth but when I told him the price his teeth almost fell out of his head. It was like the cartoon you know where the eyes bug out and the tongue rolls out and back. Anyway after I bought the bag and brought it to show it to him. He said "I can't believe I paid all that money for a handbag. You better carry it until your dead" I thought this was funny because my mother always wore St.John suits. I guess she hid the price tag. My parents were of the old school and paid cash for everything. No credit cards. So she must have not told him how much her suits cost.
I am still carrying the bag and loving it. My Dad died a month before my birthday.
The bag is now a bitter sweet thing to me. But I still love it.

It was nice that the woman, thought enough of her bag not to put it on the floor. However she could of exercised a little more tact by not asking you to put your bag on the floor.
I live near a Coach outlet. In the summetime they have to put stanchions outside the line is so long to get in. I keep thinking why would they buy them when they can go to chinatown and buy a knock off.

Jburgh, I started to tell her about the PF, but she was so excited that I couldn't get many words in edgewise! I love your husband's comment!

Longchamp - I agree with oatmealcrisp - so glad you still have your bags!!

oatmealcrisp - her excitement was so cute that I couldn't get upset

Septembersiren - your story is so touching! I laughed when I read the St. John bit...those clothes are as expensive as BVs! (and gorgeous!!)

It's not all that funny and I've told it here before, but someone in a BV store (employee) told me what color my wallet was and I said no, I bought it in 200x and it's xxxx color, and he kept correcting me. I think I know when I bought the wallet and what the color is. My guess is he doesn't know what a color code is.

BTW, it wasn't Chicago. They know all about tPF in that shop.

Miss FancyBags - You're better off not telling her about PF. Smart to let her enjoy her moment. I have a cousin who recently purchased a Dooney & Bourke. She had to brag to me about her "hot designer bag". I left it alone so she could enjoy her moment.

MFB, you are so sweet to let her have her moment. I don't think I could have had she asked me to put my Cabat on the floor... next to it, no problem.

My funny BV stories are limited to DH's comments about some of my bags, he & JBurgh's DH would have a ball together

Longchamps, sorry about the theft! Gosh, if we ever get robbed I hope my thieves are as clueless as yours!

I love these stories. I had a terrible week last week and I needed to smile and you girls did it. Thanks!!! Miss FB I can almost see your face when you were ask to put that cabat on the floor. I would have looked at her like she was crazy!!! But I know how she feels about her bags. I love mine too

Longchamps, so sorry to hear about your house robbery. But, your DH was funny in what he said.

Septembersiren, your story is so touching...so glad your father could see you carrying the bag.

I don't dare tell my DH what I pay for my bags - "oh this, it was in my closet" LOL!

This is a great thread!!

Yep, I was in shock (and covered it, I hope well, by laughing)! But you're right, a bag lover is a bag lover no matter the brand
