So I recently bought a Chanel square mini from Rebag the other day (via Tradesy where they have an account), thinking that they were a pretty legitimate business given that they have stores in NYC and the west coast. This was my first ever Chanel purchase, and even though the listing said that the only included accessory was an authenticity card (I.e. no dustbag or box etc) I figured that that, combined with the seeming legitimacy of the business, would be enough to prove the authenticity of the bag (plus I could always get it authenticated by a third party).
I received the bag on Saturday, and found that the authenticity card was nowhere to be found in the package. Checked all the pockets in the bag, the dustbag, box, nothing. I emailed them immediately to ask if it had been left out accidentally (it wouldn't have been a big deal to me if they'd found it and shipped it separately) only for them to come back four days later insisting that they had included it in the package.
So now I'm stuck in this misrepresentation dispute with Tradesy where I have to return the bag, somehow prove that I'm not lying when I said the package came incomplete (though what reason would I even have to lie??), and probably wait months for the refund to be processed (if they even decide to believe me and actually issue a refund to my card instead of just Tradesy credit).
It really sucks and I'm wondering if I should just suck it up and keep the bag without the card because it doesn't make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things, and I really love the bag itself -- but it's the principle of it that is really getting to me! They shouldn't be able to get away with this sort of unprofessionalism, and the bag is definitely overpriced for having zero accessories, and now I'm also doubting whether a company that is this sloppy can actually be trusted to guarantee the authenticity of their items.
Does anyone have any advice? Have you ever dealt with misrepresentation like this before, where a pre-owned item did not come with all the accessories that were listed?
