So I recently bought a Chanel square mini from Rebag the other day (via Tradesy where they have an account), thinking that they were a pretty legitimate business given that they have stores in NYC and the west coast. This was my first ever Chanel purchase, and even though the listing said that the only included accessory was an authenticity card (I.e. no dustbag or box etc) I figured that that, combined with the seeming legitimacy of the business, would be enough to prove the authenticity of the bag (plus I could always get it authenticated by a third party).

I received the bag on Saturday, and found that the authenticity card was nowhere to be found in the package. Checked all the pockets in the bag, the dustbag, box, nothing. I emailed them immediately to ask if it had been left out accidentally (it wouldn't have been a big deal to me if they'd found it and shipped it separately) only for them to come back four days later insisting that they had included it in the package.

So now I'm stuck in this misrepresentation dispute with Tradesy where I have to return the bag, somehow prove that I'm not lying when I said the package came incomplete (though what reason would I even have to lie??), and probably wait months for the refund to be processed (if they even decide to believe me and actually issue a refund to my card instead of just Tradesy credit).

It really sucks and I'm wondering if I should just suck it up and keep the bag without the card because it doesn't make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things, and I really love the bag itself -- but it's the principle of it that is really getting to me! They shouldn't be able to get away with this sort of unprofessionalism, and the bag is definitely overpriced for having zero accessories, and now I'm also doubting whether a company that is this sloppy can actually be trusted to guarantee the authenticity of their items.

Does anyone have any advice? Have you ever dealt with misrepresentation like this before, where a pre-owned item did not come with all the accessories that were listed?

That really sucks. You could consider opening a claim with your credit company if they don't allow it to go through. Tradesy does tend to side with buyers though, and from their perspective, I don't see why you would lie about not having the authenticity card either. I've been to two stores by Rebag recently since I'm located in NYC, the sales associates in the stores are not knowledgeable about the items at all, and don't know anything about the bags. They're really just there to help you check out once you've decided to purchase something.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, please do update us on what happens.

Hi, I am sorry for your bad experience. Especially for that, EVERYTHING I order from the internet, even from the best companies, I make a video on the first opening. So there is no doubt and you can use it as proof.
I keep on reading about the claims with the credit card company, however, in all the credit cards in my country, the claims exclude second hand items. So please check with the conditions of your credit card and bank card.

Thank you all for the advice! I got some good news today which is that Rebag finally found the card and they are shipping it to me. It took a lot of pushing back on my part - I had to call to complain and send a strongly worded email - but they finally relented and agreed to check all their inventory again, and eventually found it.

I'm hoping this is the end of it and they send the right thing and I can just enjoy the bag (I had been hunting for this specific one for SO long). It is definitely good advice to video the unpacking process though (and to put the purchase on the right card) and I will certainly do that from now on after this annoying experience. It's certainly made me a lot more wary about buying pre-owned online but I guess that it will always be a crapshoot.

Thank you all again for the replies, I really appreciate it.

Hi there - I just purchased a Chanel from Rebag and same thing happened to me. I've called and emailed and every time they say they will get back to me/start a ticket with customer service but I haven't heard or received anything. Curious what you did to get them to look into it for you? Pretty frustrating... appreciate your advice. Thanks.
