Hi VCA lovers. Some of you may know I have been interested in the large Frivole earrings in YG, but it’s been a long time since they have been available in the boutiques. The SA I spoke to today says they haven’t even sent them any in months. I tried on the Frivole Between-the-flower ring today and I love it too, but I’m worried about scratches and overall practicality. I’m not the type of person who goes out much in the evenings or who goes to fancy affairs, so if I got one, it would be for everyday use (or at least a few times a week) to get my cost per wear down. It’s a hefty purchase so I need to think through this carefully. As for current rings, I am really just wearing my YG Perlee Signature everyday, so I do have that on days I don’t need to fuss.

Do you think the BTF ring is a good choice? Or should I pass? It makes my heart sing but I worry about it being impractical for my lifestyle (mom of two kids, work at a non-glamorous job). However, I tend to dress up at work and can be a bit extra compared to my coworkers.

The ring looks lovely on you. I suggest you sleep on this, and the answer will come to you in the morning. IF you can't get the ring out of your mind, you have the answer. Things to think about regarding the ring: 1. is the ring on your current wishlist? (please read my new thread ;-). 2. I am not familiar with the ring "wear" - can the gold be polished? I DO know the ring will NOT quench your thirst for the earrings, and that should be taken into consideration if you can only purchase one. 3. Maybe call the on-line boutique and ask about timing of the earrings and if they can be located? I enjoy talking to on-line for a different perspective, its the equivalent of a 2nd opinion with NSA. 4. IF the ring cannot be polished, how will you feel about scratches? Let me know please...interested.

This ring is on my wish list. I need to wait till I get other items first cos I intend to wear it for going out rather than for daily wear. Yes for sure it scratches easily. I have the mini earrings so I know but I like the design and I know I won't be getting the pave version. I justify it this way, I need an occasion ring to push me to go out more even if just for a coffee or to a park walking around.

Hi! I have the Frivole WG diamond pave BTF version and want to share my perspective.
I wear my ring all the time, and I dress very casual outside of work. I'm usually in a striped top, skinny jeans, ballet flats. This ring wears very easy and is very comfy.

As for scratches and wear and tear... for me, jewelry is meant to be worn. It's no different than wearing a Love and getting tiny scratches, or even a wedding band with tiny nicks. I view any nicks as a ring's journey that it has been with you through your life experiences.

I think Frivole is the most beautiful of all VCA collections, and the ring is stunning. I would get it, wear it, and enjoy it. It's not a big deal if you get a scratch or two... it's part of the beauty of well loved piece.

But more importantly, wearing it will bring and ear-to-ear grin to your face which is the whole point of jewelry.

Just my two cents. Hope that might help in your decision. I vote yes! Get it!

ETA: Oh, and by the way, I think the cool-chic-mom-with-nice-jewelry is an awesome look! Kind of the "how does she look so cool and still take care of the kids" vibe. Yup... get the ring and rock!

Thanks for your help. I think the earrings are a lost cause (I’ve asked for over a year) and with Covid, Paris is limiting production. I would like a new ring and for a while was debating about the Vintage Alhambra onyx ring or the Cartier JUC ring. Both rings, although gorgeous, keep me hesitating for various reasons and I don’t have anything in the Frivole line (I have plenty of Alhambra pieces and a JUC bracelet). The issue about scratches is what had me worried as the earrings wouldn’t be scratched much but the ring would.

Excellent point about an occasion ring for even everyday life. I am all about each day being a special occasion.

I really appreciate your long and thoughtful post! You are making me feel less worried about the scratches. Style-wise, the ring would fit right in with my general aesthetic and I don’t think I would hesitate wearing it if I already bought it. I do like that there are some people on social media who seem to wear it daily or often enough...gives me more confidence that the wear and tear won’t be too bad. But you’re right about the smile it would bring to my face...I really do love the Frivole line and have been wanting to get something from it for ages.

Do you find that the frivole ring gets in the way or bumps into things? It’s been on my list but I ended up getting the magic pave as my daily right hand ring because that seemed like a lower maintenance ring. I don’t have a problem wearing bling 24/7 and would love to have the frivole to switch off with magic pave. Thank you in advance for your thoughts

I really think that if you love it you should get it. I do know that its a beautiful piece which you are going to get lots of compliments on. There will be scratches but I do know it can be polished a couple times in its life time and as long as you don't dig in the garden with it or lift weights with it (weight gloves won't work over the petals ) it will be just fine. Sometimes I think we give too much concern to the delicacy of things and we miss out on a level of enjoyment wearing them. If you really need to be sure why not visit the store one more time and try it on (just to be sure) before you pull the trigger. Don't end up like me and be ready to buy (different item) and there is no stock:hrmm: (loosing patience here since Nov). So if you are sure, get it!

Hi! It doesn't get in the way. I am actually very surprised at well this ring wears.
I wear bold rings, and even then, I thought the BTF design might hit things or get caught in things and annoy me. Not at all... while this is a BTF, when you wear it, it actually looks like one big bold ring, very easy to wear.

I love blingy rings, and if you like bling, this is it! This ring is so sparkly, whether it be the pave diamonds or the mirror gold finish. The design is also beautiful... heart-shaped petals, angled for a 3-D effect... it is pure art.

Hope that helps.

P.S. I am going to get the Lotus ring next, and that is a ring that will probably annoy me. But I love it so much, I'll just deal with it. I am not sure if that is a design you like, but just FYI. That is another blingy ring. Frivole though has my heart... if I could only have one BTF, it would be Frivole.

I have that exact ring and also wear it on my middle finger or index finger. I love it-- very comfortable to wear and can be worn casually. I wear it with jeans and Ts, during the day or out for a casual dinner. I get tons of compliments on it. Go for it!!
Thank you! Love to hear that you wear it casually as well! This is exactly how I’ll be wearing it if I get it.

BTW, I also have the perle signature bracelet and because of the shiny surfaces they go really nicely together. I notice you have the sig perle ring. If you wear that on your ring finger, you may be able to wear this on your pointer and that would look really extra when you want to glam it up. I find that this ring fits on both my middle and pointer as it has the opening (my pointer is definiely a quater to maybe a half size bigger than my middle finger but because of the opening, this ring seems to be versatile and fit both).

I’m so glad to hear that the frivole is easy to wear! I think it it the most beautiful BTF ring and the practical side of me would definitely want maximum wear out of it.

I think the lotus is beautiful too. My mother in law has it and I wish she wore it more. Thank you and enjoy your lovely pieces in good health.
