freying edges on dylan

i just got my dylan double handle in cognac and the leather is wonderful and
i did expect to have unfinished edging but, should it be freying?
is that normal? also the zippers are oxidized. is there anything i can do to fix?

ok, also the edging is black for some reason and it is taking for ever for the design team to get back to me. am i wrong in thinking this is a defect?sany0017.jpg
