French help Please

you have obviously, dear miroirprincess, missed each and every nuance in my post, I have also managed to "imply" and you have missed those implications on every level. I refuse to allow that to frustrate me.

"I certainly don’t expect everyone to speak English or accept US dollars as payment, which is certainly helpful" <--- OMG, I CAN'T BELEIVE YOU EVEN WROTE THAT - IT'S JUST WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. The world does not revolve around American society so to even state that is an insult to anyone outside of that society. Take that mentality back to your farm in Arkansas, population 24 people.

First off, I have no farm in Arkansas, and, I was simply stating that there are some very dumb American tourists who actually think the world revolves around them. I, am not one of these, dear miroir, I am simply “implying” that if you come to France and make an effort to blend into the society, you will be, very often, treated with great respect. If, on the other hand, you expect the world to revolve around the US, then, you will have some difficulties avoiding rudeness. I suppose the way I wrote that was a bit deep.

I am so sorry, but you seem to be fighting with someone who is in agreement with you, and you don't even realize it. One, not so charming quality I find from time to time on my travels.

good day, Vive la France, and good luck. I hope to speak with you again when you have gained a bit more life experience in about 15 years or so.

Baby Boo, I have lots of nice friends to introduce you to. Some are French, some are not, and they will treat you with dignity and respect, as you deserve. This is going to be great!

Place del a concorde is a great place you will be right by the faubourg saint honore, you will love it. About the food Noura is one of the best libanaise food in Paris. Also you have to go to the "relais de l'entrecote" all libanais and french are crazy about this restaurant. Libanais are so in love with it that there is one in beyrouth, can you believe it. Paris-Geneve- Beyrouth. All my friends in Paris that have origins from Liban have in their families fluent french for decades, we considere in france the liban as a mediteranean country. I saw some recent pics of Beyrouth and it look just like Paris in certains districts.

As for the renting don't go on those website but instead calls the insurance companies such as AXA , I know it sounds weird but they own half of the buildings of Paris and they are not overpriced. They use to deal with UK and US people and all the apartments are really nice as they are usually in an hausmanian style.

I'm sure Mademoiselle Marvin would be more than helpfull

Good Night girls! it's late here in NY :sleepy:

Well, thank you for coming along to offer another option to Baby Boo. Absolutely, my ideas would not be the only ones available, I am no expert! Certainly, your knowledge about rental properties would be more vast than mine, as you are a real Parisian. I just happened to be the first poster on this thread to try to help her, as I am living in the city and know what it is like to move to a foreign country with no help, advice, or friends. I want Baby Boo to know she has someone to call and help figure things out when she gets here so that she is not alone. I am sure both Baby Boo and I appreciate any helpful advice you may offer. Boudoir also offered great practical advice. Sometimes, when these kinds of posts begin, they come off as terribly freighting to potential tourists who come here with the idea that they will be treated with contempt. As a expat in Paris, I can not stress enough that very often I am taken aback by the kindness of the French people I meet in Paris, even strangers on the street. If you make an effort, begin by saying “bon jour” and smile before asking a question, they will often go to great lengths to help you. I have been escorted to the location of a place I was searching for on more than one occasion.

Yes, I think people in the service industry really do get fed up this time of year, and often make no effort to be nice, but, it depends on where you go. If you go to the garden at the George V for an afternoon drink, you will be treated like royalty, if you expect the same service at a busy sidewalk café, you may find it disappointing.

Also does everyone feel being on the ground floor is bad?

I am only concerned about the easy access for a robber. A friend of mine in the 16th was robbed twice, and she is in a ground floor appartment. I am on the third floor, and it would be quite a challange for anyone to get into my appartment without my opening the door.

Baby Boo! you have to go the Noura restaurant, it's a very chic libanese restaurant Rue Pierre 1er De Serbie. I love libanese and a lot of french have origins from lebonon. Im sure you will learn french very quick, what kind of job are you gonna do in Paris?

This is true, this is said to be quite authentic, though, I am sure it is probably not the same. My Lebanese friends have invited me there, and I find it is really, really good! Perhaps you are like me, I don't want to eat American food in France, and I really don't want to eat French food in America, either!

Anyway, if you find yourself homesick, you will find many people to speak with and welcome you in this restaurant! If the food there is anything like in Lebanon, I want to visit! I buy real Lebanese pistachios at the little sandwicherie across the street from this restaurant.

I love GEORGE V!!!! the 5 days my dad and i were there when i went for the interview was taken up with me and him sitting there all day ppl watching!! loved it

I was just there, last Thursday, for a fashion show. I arrived early, so, I had a glass of champagne in the lovley garden. Then it's settled, we will meet at the George V for a drink! Also, I love to have tea at the Bristol. Have you been there?:tender:
