How useful is the zipper portion on the bottom? I am thinking that I will really like this bag and may decide on it rather than the beige cerf I got today (still waiting for in the mail)

Assuming that I am thinking about the right bag, I checked it out at the trunk show. The bag I am thinking about is the one with the zipper around the bottom (like one of the Chloe Bettys). It really doesn't do anything other than make the bag slightly bigger.
