Hey everyone!!

I’m a mother to a toddler (a sweet 23 month old boy) and am pregnant with my second (a little girl). I love mom life, but man, I miss being able to carry my bags!

The only two bags I currently use are my LV Neverfull and a Love Moschino Backpack. Both bags are utilized in lieu of a traditional diaper bag, and both “elevate” my mom style quite a bit [emoji23]. But here’s the thing: I want to wear my nicer bags as well, but am worried about ruining them. SO, long story short: do any of you moms throw caution to the wind and use your premium designer bags when you’re with your kids? Or are they reserved for times when you are kid free?

When my sons were babies, I still carried my handbags. I just wanted to feel like I was more than a mother. I was still me. I didn’t like carrying their things in my handbag so I carried a small diaper bag. I tried to carry everything in one bag, and I just did not like it.

I’m not sure about the whole ruining your bag since I still carried a separate diaper bag. Diaper bags always got a little gross.

I have a 19 month old boy and since I love handbags and arm carrying, I normally only wear them to work or when I'm out solo.

I need both hands free for toddler wrangling so when I'm out with him, I normally wear a small-ish crossbody and have his things in a diaper backpack, so that they're still separated.

When my three boys were babies/toddlers, I used my LV palermo GM as a diaper bag for their stuff only and used chanel woc or H evelyn PM for my own stuff. I only carried my more expensive bags when I'm not with them or no need to be hands free/chasing toddlers around.

I know how you feel with not able to use the nicer bags because maybe they will be ruined bacause I was in that phase for 5 years... hang in there and I suggest just use the nice bags when u are sans kids (ie. date night) just to be safe!

I don't use many of my Louis Vuitton bags around my son except for my Damier Ebene bags (I have a toddler, too). The ones with the vachetta come out when I'm going places without my son. I figure that in a few years I'll be back to carrying whatever I want.

Why not wear your normal bags? If you like a bit larger bags, you can get a bag to carry your baby stuff within the bag (Ju-Ju Be has some really pretty ones!) or just get a diaper bag and carry your normal handbag for your stuff. This is what my best friend did when her daughter was a baby - she tried to do a diaper bag with her stuff in if but hated the way her things started smelling like so that ended fast.

I was still able to wear many of my bags to work. The one type of bag that I am just now getting back into carrying is small bags! My kids are 5 and 8. I always joke that my bags deserve a much more fabulous life than I can offer. DH reminds me that we will get there eventually as the kids get older and then I can give my bags the life that they deserve!

I have a 3 and a half year old. I can't say I stopped using any bags when she was born since I always had a stroller for her stuff. When she started walking I stopped using my handheld bags as often and reached for my backpack or crossbody just because it was easier. Now I look at what my day will be like when I grab a bag and try to pick a combination of something I love and something that will be practical. I never really worried about ruining a bag. I guess I figured what's the worst that could happen while carrying some wipes and snacks.
Just because your a mom doesn't mean you have to give up what you enjoy.

I use all of my bags since most of them are LV canvas and pretty durable. But even with the leather ones, I use those too as they are all black. If I’m out for a long time, I usually just stuff my longchamp with my sons items and keep them in the basket of the stroller. I’m sure it would be different if I had light colored bags in my collection though.

I have a separate diaper bag for my baby and carries my usual handbag with me..I did the same with my son 9 years ago..usually my husband will carry the handbag while i carry the baby..

I have two kids and I always wore my nice bags with the exception of some bags. As others have said, I also kept a separate diaper bag and wore my designer bag cross body. Here are the main bags I wore with kids:

Chanel mini rectangular
LV Alma BB in epi
Gucci Soho Disco
Prada WOC and Chanel WOC (which I have since sold)
Hermès Evelyne PM
Dior My Lady Dior (this one I would only wear when my hubby was around)
Chanel reissue (occasionally and only crossbody)

Definitely wear your nice bags! If you are worried about them, get some hardier bags in canvas for example (like the LV Pochette Métis).
