For advice on which model to purchase for my 1st Chanel

Hi all,
I am very new to Chanel and recently went to boutique to look at Coco small handles, this style is so popular as the small styles in leather had been sold out and only left large or medium size. SA brought out few other design for me to try but upon trying out Reissue in 225 for the ever first time, I fell in love with this model. However due to the price increase, it seems too far out from my budget to purchase the brand new one. Been looking at preloved market and found these 2 reissue with metallic calfskin leather and 1 hybrid reissue model (brown lambskin leather) and which are within my budget. I intend to buy one that I can use for work, dinner or casual weekend.

Hope you can help to advise which to go for.

1. Reissue 226 in light silver gunmetal metallic calfskin leather (12 series)
I will view the actual item tomorrow as I am not sure if this size will be too big for me.
Been looking for a black aged skin leather but currently there is none at preloved market at the moment. Anyone having any metallic leather, can let me know if it is easy to care for and is it very 'striking to wear out'?



2. Reissue 226 in dark silver grey metallic calfskin leather (12 series)
I am told by seller that this is brand new piece yet to be used and always kept in storage all this while.



3. Reissue hybrid medium (25 cam length) or double flap with mademoiselle lock (11 series)
Had seen it in actual , very vintage look but the leather is very buttery soft. Tempted to buy this as the color is lovely rich chocolate color which seem to match my outfits easily. But as this is quite well used and vintage, the bag is no longer holding it shape on it own. Is it okay or is it normal since it is lambskin and the bag had softened, I can seem to put in more stuff as well.

To be honest, I would hold out for your dream color/size/combo rather than settling for whichever is available at this moment. If you want a black 225, I would wait for it to come onto the resale market. Between the three choices you have right now, my pick would be the light silver option...I find silver a surprisingly neutral color. But I still would rather wait for a black reissue (the most versatile/classic color of all).

I agree with the above. I'm sure those three purses are all still quite expensive. Keep looking on the preloved market and it'll eventually come up. Don't settle. You'll regret it later or always want it. Reissues sell for much less than retail usually. It's a classic and beautiful style but understated so it sells for less. Thats the beauty of it though.

Make sure to get it authenticated too. Since you're new to chanel, usually people like to have a full set: box, dust bag, authenticity card, hologram sticker. The more complete the set, the more expensive. If it's missing the card or sticker, usually it's significantly cheaper. For me, the card and sticker are a must and a deal breaker if they are not present. Some people don't care. It's up to you.

reissue is the best Chanel bag imo. understated enough to take to work, and styles perfectly day to night.

I agree with posters above and say wait for the ideal color and size for you. and please get it authenticated if you buy preloved, here on the forum and/or a paid service

Thank you. I just met up with seller and viewed the actual piece (light silver metallic piece). As I was wearing a black jumpsuit, the color went well with my outfit. In fact, my wardrobe consists of mostly solid darker color like black, navy, grey and emerald green. This color should go well. But the seller is so kind since she understand my situation that I am actually looking for a black piece to kick start my collection , a classic color for my keep. She told me to go back to consider first. Size 226 is much bigger than 225, can store more stuff. It looks nicer on me if I wear it double chain but if crossbody, the size will be a bit big and tends to stick out my side hip. In a dilemma, condition is pretty good for a bag in 12 series ( 2008 - 2009).

a pity as the item#2 (Dark Silver Grey) has been reserved

But I found another color which is black metallic stripes in 226 (same design as #1 light silver, silver shiny hardware)
Also 12 series, seems that many metallic leather was launched during that year 2008 - 2009. Is this nice and easy to maintain?
Looks stunning even in this color though light silver color also look great but as it is light color, I am not sure if it will get stain easily as my outfits are usually in dark or black color. Else, maybe I should wait for my dream bag.

I usually stay away from metallic leather. Not into shiny leather and from researching, it's not that durable in the long run. If you really love black reissue, I would def get that one. Don't settle for something else similar. I have a black 226 reissue with rhw and it's my most used flap bag ever - worth every penny

Have you tried the mini (single flap) reissue? I think it's similar size to the 225 just smaller but price is great. I've seen it with shw and ghw both. Good luck deciding!

Hi everyone, like to update and share with everyone here that I just bought a brand new 225 reissue in Dove White color from preloved market. Happen to chance upon this seller's listing and she has great collection of reissue. This is the size that I been looking for.. the color is very neutral with more grey undertone, it is from 14xxxx series. Color is easy to match with any clothing. Moreover, this is brand new, it come with dustbag, authenticity card and halo sticker intact. Seller has bought these and kept aside for collection. I am so happy.. sharing pics of my new bag and joy with all here. Also like to thank those who has shared their advice and comments to my earlier posting.

The 1st pic shown is from seller's listing and other pics was taken by myself but the lighting in my room not so bright , cant capture the grey tone to show you all. It is a beautiful bag.

Hi everyone,

As fate happened to pass by ,I finally found a reissue in my preferred size 225,black with ruthenium hardware and which I bought it preloved from another owner just few days back. It is from 26xxxxxx. The price is much higher than the one I bought for the dove grey 226 and that is brand new kept used.

I still yet to use the dove grey version. Today is my first time using the black 225 reissue to work. It cannot put much but I still like the size. Only 1 irritating issue is that I have difficulty closing the bag as found it difficult to align the lock to close it. Any reissue user here, can advise me if this is normal problem with reissue and how should I overcome it. Also when I try and manage to close it, the front left side of leather tends to cave in , causing more distressed look. Is this also normal? My dream bag that I finally got,now seems to be having of issues arising. I am totally new to reissue.

Also, can I seek for advice for my earlier dove grey version please.

I am torn whether to sell it at near the price I bought or keep it since I got a good price for this piece. With increasing price of Chanel classic bags, tough for me to buy it first hand from.boutiques. I have a confirmed overseas buyer who s willing to pay it and shipping, for me to ship out tomorrow. Dilemma
