1. What is a 'fob'? Like in 'Key Fob'?
  2. In reference to coach yes I'd say its a key fob. The other common type of "fob" is a watch fob...but I'm thinking if you were looking at a watch fob you wouldn't be asking in the coach board.
  3. i think i get your question- like you know a keyfob is a keychain, but what is a fob and why is it called that?

ive been wondering that for a loooong time
  4. lol that's exactly what I meant.
  5. if you google 'key fob', you get lots of info.
something about it started as a security thing (or something) and it's used as an identification piece...

A key fob is a decorative item many people often carry with their keys, on a ring or a chain, to provide a better grip or to make a personal statement.
Fobs vary in size and style. Most common are simple shapes of smooth metal or plastic, often with a message or symbol. A fob may be strictly symbolic, or it may be functional itself. For examples, many fobs are small flashlights, compasses, calculators, penknives, store discount cards, bottle openers, or USB flash drives.

(i think its just a different way to say 'keychain')
