Like the original satchel is so beautiful but so is this satchel 30! Trying to see which one is the lighter one of the too! Any pics or comparisons would be helpful! Thank you ladies

Are they both Florentine leather? I have the Florentine satchel in either the 13" or 14" length. I carry it all the time. Since the bag is narrower at the top zipper opening, I would consider what you carry, and the size of items you remove frequently from the bag.

Dooney has changed the dimensions of the 'original' satchel over time. It used to be
called the small. Now it's called just the 'satchel'. The web site shows it
as 5.75" deep and 13" long, with a weight of 2 lbs 11 oz. I think these dimensions
may be older info, and the weight probably includes the longer strap.

The original or 'Flo Satchel' has the belting details, tassels, whip stitching on the
handles, and more hardware.

The newer Flo 30 satchel is listed as 6" deep and 12" long. But this is an exterior measurement, and with the folded corners, I think there will be much less interior space.
The Flo 30 doesn't have the belting detail, tassels, or whip stitching on the handles, which add weight. But it has the extra leather of the folded corners.

I'm going to assume that the weight of the leather on both styles would be the same,
assuming you are buying new bags, not preloved. Over the years we've seen the leather
on the Florentine handbags become lighter weight. Supposedly in response to
customer requests, or maybe a way to control costs or just newer technologies.
Who knows.

So I think the Flo 30 would be lighter. I can't be sure as I don't have one.
But the Flo 30 will probably hold less and the zipper entry might be a tad smaller
(just a guess).

I like both designs. The Flo 30 is a more streamlined look, but the original belted
satchel has a lot of interesting details that display craftmanship and design.

Also look at the thickness and length of the longer straps. Don't assume they
are the same... both the amount of leather and the hardware is often trimmed down
for smaller handbags. This makes them lighter, but not necessarily more comfortable
to carry.

I am very sensitive to the weight of handbags. But.... I have found that cramming
stuff into a smaller handbag doesn't make the carry feel lighter. The same stuff in
a larger, if somewhat heavier bag, can be easier for me to carry. I think of it as
carrying a brick weighing 10 lbs vs feather of the same weight. The feathers take up
more surface area and feel lighter than the compressed weight of the brick.
There is probably some theory in physics that backs this up, but that's not my
playground. A small crossbody is the worst carry for me as it concentrates all the
weight in a small space.

yes both Florentine, i met the mini not micro! I think that’s the one you have

I see what you mean about the color. They look really similar in the photos. The one with tassels looks a bit lighter to me. Both are beautiful. Which way are you leaning?

I think the original one w tassels. It’s $314 right now? I don’t follow pricing for this participles bag, is this a good price or does it ever go lower than this?

Hi lavender! Question for the Florentine satchel mini w the tassels, what’s the best pricing you’ve seen this year for it? It’s $315 right now and wondering if i should wait for it to be lower? I don’t follow this particular bags pricing wondering if you might know thank you friend

pmart:

I haven't been following the pricing on the Flo mini but $315 seems quite high.
I know they keep raising the list price, so even a big discount results in a higher
number. When the mini first came out, I got it for half off and paid $168.
Don't ask me why I remember that number, but it was lighter and more affordable
than the small (now regular size) and the size worked for me then. Now, I'm
carrying more and prefer the small/regular size.

The Florentine 30, which is about the size of the mini is now $171 on ILD.
And the Flo mini (Fuchsia is the only color available) is now $203 on ILD..
both are part of the BLACKFRIDAY sale there. The regular size (natural)
is $165.

I haven't checked Dooney.com for their pricing. They also have a BLACKFRIDAY sale,
but their pricing is generally higher than ILD.

I would wait for a better price in the color you want. We don't see a lot of minis
offered, so it might be a while. Have you looked at the Flo 30? It doesn't have
the tassels or whip stitching on the handles or the belting, but it has the
same shape and very clean lines with folded corner detail. It's available on ILD
in 6 of the basic colors. I really like the design.

Hey the pebbled grain satchel 30 w Florentine trim that we both have, i got it last night on ild for $93 in black black… I was shocked it’s gone now!

pmart: It's all your fault. I went over to ILD to look at that pebble satchel 30 with
Flo trim in bl/bl...
gone, but the caramel was $93. So of course, I had to buy it.
And then, to avoid shipping, I added the Sorrento double zip satchel that
I had been looking at. Also $93 in 2 of the colors,
My justification.... I don't need another SLG (or 2), so it made more sense
to order 2 bags I didn't need. 🙄🙄🙄

After reading the description of the leather on the main Dooney site...
I decided I really wanted a Sorrento piece. I had ordered and returned
the Sorrento drawstring a few weeks ago. I loved the leather but didn't like the
construction details (no hardware protecting the drawstring around the bag).
I got the dusty pink Sorrento satchel I''m hoping the color is interesting and not too blah or nude.

This is getting out of hand.... so much temptation. So little self control.
So much fun!

I haven't gotten my Penrose satchel yet, but.... I already want another color based on
the description of the leather and input from others who bought it.
