Hi everyone. I recently bought one of Coach's cashmere scarves and when I went to get a jacket from the closet, it dropped on the floor and I didn't notice. My boyfriend's dog was over that day and he got to it while we were at work. It's not in terrible condition but he did rip 2 small holes in it (at work right now so I don't have a picture). I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to patch this? I've done a lot of sewing/knitting/crocheting in the past but I'm not sure of the best fix for this that won't ruin the C patterning. It's not a knitted scarf but instead seems like it's gray and white fibers woven in a pattern to form the C's on each side.
Should I....
1) Wash off dog drool and just leave it alone? (holes aren't really noticeable when worn but I'm afraid it'll start to un-weave at the holes)
2) Use gray thread and attempt to sew the rip shut (will probably leave a visible stitch line)
3) Send to a professional to try to mend it? (Not sure what type of shop to look for for this)
4) Sew some sort of decorative patch on top of it? (has anyone done this and have recommendations?)
This is the scarf I got (in gray):
