Apparently they are delicate, but I don't think anymore than snakeskin.

If you want durable, eel skin is excellent.

DH has a custom (Duret.com) sueded sharkskin wallet. It’s durable. The hide from which it was cut was an older one.

I love stingray, which I believe is a freshwater fish. I missed this micro boy (smaller than my mini) in the boutique but I was lucky enough to find it at resale
