Hi TPFers,

I purchased a pair of 18k pierced omega back earrings secondhand. They arrived today and are very pretty, I am very happy with them, but I didn't realize until now that the hinged back can hurt as much as a clip earring.

What should I do? I could ask a jeweler to loosen them, convert them to pierced, or try a cushion?

Are these earrings typically painful?

Thanks for your help!

You could ask the jeweler to loosen them. I have had it down when the omegas pinched m lobes. I find the omegas much more comfortable than butterfly backs, not to mention that it you are less likely to lose your earrings with the omega backs. Just my opinion.

I agree with Oreo. Have them adjusted. I find omega backs sit well on the ear especially larger earrings.
