I am considering selling a H Herbag along with a few other very high end items but am worried that without a track record of sales (have 29 purchases and 100% feedback rating) I might be at a disadvantage.

I thought about trying to sell some lower value items first to get that track record but until you have sold 10 items you can't do more than one at a time and my Herbag is really a "summer bag" so don't want to loose the window of nice weather for a lot of North America and Europe.

Any and all advice welcome! thanks a bunch.

Toniec, my advice would be :

Behave as a seller the way you expect sellers behaving with you when you are a buyer....

It will go just fine !

Good luck with your auctions:heart:

Also remember luxury sales are slow right now on ebay so if you don't get a ton of interest...it may not be your background...just the economy. I've got a lot of items priced great that have just not been moving but a zillion watchers.

Set your opening price at the lowest price you will take...if it is something you would like to move/sell fairly soon. You might save Ebay fees for not having to list over and over ( and in the process continuing to lower the price) and your buyers realize that your opening price is IT and they can decide to offer it or not.

Houses and Hermes may be different but, they are both comodities. When we sold our house, we set the price at the very least we would take and held firm at the advice of our realtor ( who had been successful with this idea) and sold the house in a short period of time. Buyers knew our price was bottom line.

Just a thought:yes:

My advice would be to take really detailed, crisp photos, and be willing to provide more if requested...
Good luck!

Couldn't say that better! I always have felt that if a seller is not interested enough in providing great pics for an auction, then they are not really interested in selling the item. Same with answering questions. I just don't get people who can't be bothered to answer inquiries!

Look through the "Authenticate this Hermes" thread and see if you can avoid some of the authentication issues up front. With high-end merchandise, you may get a lot of questions that seem curt or rude. Keep your cool and just answer in a professional and courteous way - and if you make sure your answers are posted publicly in the auction, it will make you look even better. Good luck!

Also keep your lines of communication open, perhaps if you use a IM program or SKYPE, enable those so that buyers can reach you and test the waters to see what kind of seller you are.

Have great photos, be communicative, and as others have said above, don't necessarily feel that you did something wrong if it doesn't sell -- I also have some items that are just NOT moving.

Provide great pictures and lots of them show the makersmark, the Hermes Paris stamp (this helps) and show the tiny handstiches up close, mention the size of the bag...show an action shot people like this.. Good luck :o)
