Hi ladies! Would love to get your thoughts- I'm interested in buying my first red K28, and was thinking either Rouge Grenat in Togo or Rouge H box.

Rouge Grenat seems perfect for spring/summer but works well year round (? have never seen the color in person), and togo is more low maintenance than box. Box Rouge H on the other hand is just so classic, although I'm not sure if it is ok for the summer/spring months? I'm torn!

Both are gorgeous! FWIW I have an Evelyne in Rouge Garance which is very similar to Rouge Grenat and I have been shocked at how versatile it is year round. Rouge H in box is absolutely stunning and while it may be more of a F/W color, you could certainly find ways to wear her year round (perhaps with a brighter twilly that incorporates other colors for S/S). To me it would come down to whether you plan to wear this bag daily or only on occasion. If daily- I would lean towars togo because it is more durable. But truthfully you cannot go wrong either way! Good luck with your choice!!

What does your wardrobe say about these colors?

Best thing I ever did for my own handbag buying decisions was to use an app called StyleBook. It enabled me to upload pictures of my tops, dresses, etc, and then weigh different bags against each article to determine which was better for my overall closet. In fact, it taught me that moutarde--a "difficult" color--was actually a WAY better buy than etoupe. I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years, had I not done that exercise.

First of all, is this also a choice between sellier and retourné? As most Box these days is sellier. It’s a big difference IMO, so I’d get my head round that.
Then, these are two massively different leathers. Even in retourné Box will be much stiffer and Togo more relaxed. So again the styles are very different.
Then there is ease of use. I love my Box bags but they’re more delicate than Togo … by a lot.

Both are amazing, and lots of photos of both styles on this forum. They are so different that I’d imagine you (OP) are gravitating to one over the other.

Have you purchased Hermes in the past? or is this your first big purchase? Only asking because of type of leather. Togo is more carefree compared to box.
Echoing this question. First H bag? First K? If first K, do you think it might be your only K? How do you envisage using it? If it’s your first/only K and you want it for everyday use, I’d probably go with Togo. But both are gorgeous.

I love both colours, RG would be one of my preferred reds - but I have RH in Box and I am so happy I have it. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either, but if I had the choice of both in front of me, I'd still go for RH Box.

If it helps I've carried RH Box in the heat of Summer. At the moment it's quite fashionable anyway to mix cool/warm/bright/neutral/pastel/flouro/deep shades, but for a less fashion-forward take, easy with white T, mid blue jeans, tan sandals, or a summer shift in lemon or pale aqua, mint, light khaki or sage. Honestly, you can work it all year round.

I have a K32 retourne in rouge H and carry it all year round, weather permitting...which is an important thing to consider: you can carry togo bags regardless of weather but box is a bit more sensitive and I do not carry it if there is any possibility of rain.

Thanks everyone! It's not my first H or Kelly, but it would be my first box- I have other Togo bags but have never had a box bag before and love the patina it develops over time! Also conscious the sellier and retourne looks are very different

I guess I'm wondering whether Rouge Grenat or Rouge H are more versatile as colours, and how high maintenance Box really is. I do live in a rainy climate, and I wear a lot of black most of the year with white/beige in the spring and summer.

With the colours you say you wear I would go for the Rouge H Box.
My reason being that you already have a Kelly (s) but not in box leather and a Kelly in rouge H is a beautiful and classic combination.
I too live in a rainy climate (UK) and I just dont carry my box bag when I know I'll be walking around town and theres the risk of rain.

I don't think anyone here has mentioned that Rouge H in Box is not a 100% predictable color. Some years it's a brownish red, or almost cherry red, or a blue-red. Personally, I'd want to see the exact bag before committing to it.

Rouge Grenat in Togo, on the other hand, is quite predictable. It's very easy to wear year-round. You mention that you live in a rainy climate. If you want a more carefree and versatile Kelly, you might want to go with Rouge Grenat Togo. That said, the right shade of Rouge H in Box Calf is a true thing of beauty that will just get more and more beautiful with use. You can manage the rain issue by slipping a plastic drawstring bag into the bottom of the Kelly so you'd be prepared for an unexpected downpour.

If I were making this decision, I'd go with a Rouge H Box Calf Kelly in a heartbeat as long as it wasn't a brownish red.

Although my sister loves the color and look of her rouge H Kelly, she wishes it is less stiff... She says it's rather difficult to use, especially when she also has to think about how she has to be extra careful not to scratch the beautiful but easy to scratch leather. I think color wise, it actually works well with many outfits.
