I hope some of you can help. I am after a first piece of Tiffany as a keep sake, something that is timeless in design. The budget is £150 max. What would you recommend. The present is for a young lady in her late twenties.

Would you recommend the 12mm bean? I have noticed the chain is 16 inches can it be lengthened by Tiffany to 18 inches?

I believe that many women consider the 12mm Bean to be a "perfect" size, even for the young or petite. The bean is classic and would make an excellent starter piece, I agree!

Tiffany now offers some styles in 16 inches or 18 inches online. Tiffany can lengthen their chains, but they sometimes charge a small fee for the service, and it usually takes them 2-3 weeks to do so. If you're going to have something altered, remember to leave plenty of time before you need the gift.

I've found that the "classic" Tiffany pieces that come up most often during conversations and threads are the Dimond by the Yard collection, the Open Heart collection, and the Bean. Atlas is still well known, but not like those three. I do believe that the key collection is very popular at the moment, too.

Any of Elsa Peretti's necklaces - open heart, bean, starfish, teardrop, etc. - I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
Open heart has an 18" option for $195US (so you wouldn't have to pay the extra fee for lengthening).

I'm in my late 20's (Oh goodness- let's call it "mid-to-late 20's") and I wear my Tiffany SS mini bow all the time. I bought it for myself for my birthday last year and I absolutely love it. I think it's the perfect mixture of girly fun and sophistication. It looks great with office attire. I wear mine at 16" but I've seem 18" too and it looks lovely. I also love the small Elsa Peretti teardrop pendant. The teardrop earrings are another of my go-to pieces and I've always admired the pendant. I think that design is so sleek and timeless!

I love the bow, my daughter has the sterling earrings and we are considering the matching necklace as a gift for Christmas. May I ask which teardrop earrings you have? The stud version or the drops? Does anyone have a modeling photo of these? TIA.

I like the heart, bow, and teardrop best. One of my daughters has the heart and the other has the Atlas key on a long chain because she likes Atlas best.
