Hi,

I am looking to purchase my piece of Cartier jewellery. I want something I can wear everyday - I spend a lot of time in gym gear and am a jeans/t'shirt kind of girl. I have narrowed my list down to the following:-

Love Ring (open to wedding band or wider)
Trinity Ring
Earrings - love studs or hoops

Am leaning towards the earrings because I am worried about how much the rings (any of the options) will scratch.

What do you all think? I am also wondering if I should just spend the 3K on a pair of nice diamond earrings from a local jeweller!!

Thanks!

I would avoid rings. Have you looked at Cartier d’amour earrings? The diamonds are tiny but because of the design, they appear bigger. They are very shiny as well. Cartier diamonds are overpriced, of course. You can get cheaper and bigger diamonds with similar quality in local jewellery. But if you want a Cartier and diamond, i think d’amour is a good option. Its cute and shiny. If it gets boring, you can wear it on one ear and a funky dangling earrings on the other ear. Thats how I wear my diamond studs :)

I think the decision to get a piece of designer jewelry vs diamonds from a local jeweler is a common dilemma, particularly with a first piece. While designer jewelry is high quality, you’re also paying for the design. There is no bang for your buck and comparatively, you could get “more for your money” elsewhere. I would consider which piece in your price range (whether the Cartier pieces or the diamond studs) would make you happiest to wear. Of your options, I like the trinity ring best.

I recently purchased the trinity ring as my first Cartier piece. I debated between the small size and the classic size (which was a few hundred dollars more). I purchased the small size and I'm super happy with it. The trinity was designed in 1924 so it's a classic, timeless piece. My vote is thus for the trinity of your three choices.

I am a bit biased because I'm a fine jewelry ring girl. (I tend to lose earrings, so that's my fault)
I agree with @Swanky about seeing one's rings everyday. I love wearing and seeing my pieces!

Personally, in a relative sense, I'd rather pay more a premium for rings.
The amount of gold that you're paying for the Love studs, is just too much imo. They are very very small. But! Having said that. I have heard that those who wear them, have them as their daily and love them!

If you do end up going for earrings, make sure the weight of the earrings works for you. Solid gold earrings have a nice weight to them but if I wear them for long periods of time it can get a little uncomfortable. My lobe piercings are also a little stretched so I try not to make them worse.

Another vote for a ring! Your options are classic and beautiful, and honestly have pretty reasonable prices for a luxury brand. I think a ring would be a great starter piece and gateway into Cartier. Yes, the rings will scratch, but that won't detract from their beauty in my opinion.

If you are an earrings lover, then diamond studs from a local jeweler (or honestly, even lab grown ones with great specifications purchased online) would be a classic choice as well. But there is something special about Cartier, and you can get the studs any time.

I own several love rings and surprisingly there aren't many noticeable scratches, just a few hairline scratches here and there. Meanwhile, my love bangle has far more scratches so I don't wear it anymore. If you're into diamond pieces by Cartier, you should try on the juste on clou earrings. They look so nice on and the placements on the diamonds really catch the light and look extra sparkly, I always get compliments whenever I wear them

I love rings - especially bands - and it helps that you can glance at it whenever. A classic trinity was my first Cartier piece (+20 years ago) and it’s probably still my favorite Cartier piece. Just so simple, casual, and wearable!
