First Hermès decision: B25 gold-on-gold vs B30 gold-on-silver – need advice!

Hello everyone!
So I’ve been offered two options for my first Hermès bag:

• Birkin 25, gold on gold
• Birkin 30, gold on silver

I’m 5’11” and my dream was always a B30 gold on gold, but now I’m torn. My first impulse was the 25 because it’s super chic and I don’t carry much, but being tall I worry it might look too small on me. Plus, I’ve always been more drawn to gold hardware.

I love gold on gold and B25 is a very elegant little bag. Having said that B30 is not too big at all, its a really nice size tote that's compact enough for daily wear.

The B30 is my favorite size. Not too big, not too small. The 25 is a bit small and looks a little tiny for a handheld bag, but I know, I know smaller bags have been the rage for the last 7-8 years.

Can you go into the store and try both on? Maybe one will win your heart. It's a lot of money to spend on a bag you're uncertain about. Unless you see it in person, it's a really difficult decision.

I think with your height you’ll be happier with the 30 size. Frankly think 30 is a far more practical size also because of the handles and because it can be carried at the crook of the arm. You can only carry the b25 in your hand or over the wrist. It sits oddly any higher up the arm. If you wear lots of jewelry it’s also not convenient to have handles that tiny. I am petite but I think the 30 even looks better on me. If you want a mini bag then go for the 25 but 30 is a classic. Also everyone seems to have gog. Gold with shw is unique and also casual.

I have an Etoupe Birkin 25 with GHW and a Gold Birkin 30 with PHW. I"m 5'5", wear and love both. The 30, to me, is such a classic that will weather time.

I have both of these, and really you can’t go wrong with either. 25 is perfect when you don’t need to carry much, and 30 great for daytime when you more on you!

B25. I don't carry much either, and I always default to the B25 instead of B30 for everyday use.

Also I love the b25 and if you plan to eventually have both I would say get the b25 first and then go for the b30 cause (at least in my market) b25 is harder to get vs b30

My first B from a boutique was a B25 (bleu nuit GHW) in Paris and my second was a B30 Gold GHW here in the US. I find I rarely carry the B25...its capacity is more than one might think but the handles are small so you're almost always going to have it in hand. The B30 is the perfect size and I carry it all the time. Finally, while mine has GHW, I think PHW is a little more chic, edgy and 'young'.

In the end, either option will be perfect and I imagine you may end up with one of each size!

Personally I would choose the B30 because I think it's such a versatile size and I like the more modern look of Gold/PHW (JMO). But you really can't go wrong with either, both are absolutely gorgeous. Good luck with the decision!

@SofG, you highlight 2 important considerations in your post.
Your height & your dream is to have a B30 gold on gold.
That just speaks to me in terms of your comfort zone.
The B30 in the gold on gold combo is very chic & wearable, the wearable part would be
a big consideration.
Agree with others that the B30 just seems to be "easier" to wear either on your wrist or in the
crook of your arm.

B 30 Gold with PHW is my vote. I have her big sis in a 35 Togo Gold/PHW and still use her today. She is my first of three. My other two are 30s and are much better to find my thing inside the bag. I don't carry much and find that my four things swim around in the 35. I do like having the 35 if I need to carry more. (I'm 5'7") I have thought about getting a 25 but know that it would bother me not to be able to carry it in the crook of my arm. (And I have very thin arms!) The 25 is super cute, though.
