First Gucci in 8 Years. Should I keep?

This past weekend, I went to Gucci and purchased the medium Jackie in brown leather. This bag has been on my wish list for awhile. Unfortunately, while I was there, I made the mistake of trying on the large orange Attaché bag and it was love at first site. Wow! The leather was so thick and soft and the both straps were very comfortable. I absolutely love the Jackie, but I’m having doubts and I’m now thinking I should make the exchange. I know it’s really up to me, but I just don’t know what to do. I’m wondering if the Attaché is a little too trendy while Jackie is a classic. I certainly don’t follow trends nor do I care what’s in and out, but I want to be able to love the bag 2-3 years down the road. Anyone’s thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Please excuse my sloppy work at home clothes.

IMO only, the attaché, while cute, will not age as well as the Jackie. I think the jackie looks elegant, classic but not conservative, in your pic above. But, of course, the heart wants what it wants. Trust your instincts

You’ll get more use out of the brown Jackie. Would it be possible to purchase the orange attaché maybe at a later date? The Jackie is definitely more of a classic. But you should love what you purchase. I love both bags you mentioned but orange would be more of an occasional wear for me.

Definitely keep it, it has been on your list for so long and you will end buying it again in the future if you exchange it for the attaché now.

I think this Jackie looks perfect on you in every way. I would keep it because it's been on your Wishlist, which is a good sign it'll get good use.

Maybe because the Jackie has been on your list for so long means the novelty wore off even before you bought it.

The Attaché is another reissue of another vintage bag, although not quite so long ago. It's a great bag, just a little more sporty, not quite as recognised as a Gucci icon. Although 'trendy' (I haven't actually seen it on the streets) it's not going to be an IT bag moment and I think anyone can easily be wearing this in 5 years time no problem.

If you have the funds, perhaps another possible bag months down the road (it's only just come out).

I shouldn't really be giving advice, I am so dithering atm

I absolutely love my Jackie bag, but trust your instincts. Sometimes in the past I have kept bags that I regret, instead of buying another bag that I liked even more. Weigh the pros of cons of each bag, and think about which one will get more use and fit into your lifestyle needs.

Thank you all so much for your opinions. After reading everyone’s thoughts and sleeping on it, I’m keeping the Jackie. I know I’ll get a ton of use out of it. As for the Attaché, I’ll let some time pass and decide in a few months if I feel the same about it then.

Throwing my 2 cents in as I fretted about both of these bags. I ended up going with the Attaché in Dark Orange and I’m in love!

I agree with everyone’s comments that the Jackie is more classic Gucci and an icon. But personally, the Attaché fits my casual lifestyle better. I love the slouch, I love the green and red web trim, and I love that it comes with both the web strap and the leather strap.

As always, there no right answer here. I really don’t think you can go wrong with either.
