My boyfriend bought me a Fendi mini baguette in Karung effect for my birthday and I just got it. I’m extremely disappointed. I had him return an Hermes herbag for this bag and I feel scammed.
The photo and description on the website state: “Iconic mini Baguette bag entirely covered in green, white and brown sequins, creating a trompe l'oeil effect that simulates the natural markings of karung leather.”
So the bag is supposed to be made out of green, white and brown sequins mimicking snakeskin.

However, what I actually got was a printed satin fabric bag with clear sequins sewn on top. This is clearly not the same as the picture or description. I feel scammed. What can I do?

So the problem is my boyfriend is long distance and he bought the bag months ago. I just spoke with Fendi and they said even though the bag description and picture don’t match they can’t do anything because they have a strict 2 week return policy. They said the best they can do is see if other bags came out like mine but I’m pretty sure they did. I mean yes I expect this from those online Chinese clothing companies but not from Fendi. Showing a luxury product online and selling a cheap knockoff version. Extremely disappointing. The whole reason I got this bag was because of the luxurious sequin effect and now I have a fake version of it actually made by Fendi.

The bag you got looks completely different to the picture. I think if the printed satin was more saturated with colour, it would look a LOT better.

Definitely a disappointment, but still a lovely bag. If you can't return, try to enjoy it. You could also sell it, but would probably have to take a hit on the price.

They won’t take it back but this is like fraud.

Depending on how many months have passed you can get a refund through your credit card by having them reverse the charge since item is not as described. You just need to include the screenshot of the description and a photo of what you received and it should be enough information for them to go ahead.

Albeit Fendi may block this particular card going forward.

Consumer protection laws vary by jurisdiction though!

Here are the photos from the website vs the actual bag. The photos show colored sequins and the bag has transparent sequins on top of print.

Hmmm, I think the pictures actually look like clear sequins to me. I don't know whether it's just the studio lighting making the colours look more vibrant.

However, the description is where you can say it's not as described. It isn't covered in green, white and brown sequins. This is what you can say to your CC company if you go forward with a chargeback. Fendi then may step in and offer a refund or store credit instead.

If you look at the sequins hanging off the bottom of the front flap of the close up picture from their website and zoom in you can see that they’re colored especially the white ones but mine are definitely transparent.
I know that it’s still a nice bag but I was expecting this carefully crafted luxurious bag and I just feel like I got a cheap version of it. I’ll try to get my boyfriend to talk to his credit card company and see if it can get resolved but if not I might just sell the bag and get something else.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I agree to ask your boyfriend to talk to his cc company. Unfortunately this is why I hate buying anything expensive unless you can see and touch it IRL. Sadly , I don’t think Fendi is alone in making their products appear more luxurious in description. A total aside, Chanel did a sequined bag that was comprised of different colored sequins last year. It had an under the sea effect . Given that companies have been doing this, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume the the Fendi bh would be similar
