Hi all! My first coach bag just arrived!

I love green so I just had to get it. But since this is the swinger 20 it only has a small handle. No crossbody strap. I want to get a matching crossbody strap, but want to make sure the greens match as much as possible.
My first thought was to buy another green coach bag with a crossbody strap and take that and just see whatever money I could get out of selling the other bag. For example...

Does anyone have any better suggestions of getting a green strap that matches without having to buy a whole bag?
Thanks!

Sorry, had a quick look for you and haven't come across anything that would suit. Maybe reach out to some Etsy sellers that sell bag straps - some of them do custom orders!

Pretty bag!

If you could find a metallic gold leather strap with gold hardware then that might work with this bag, rather than trying to match shades of green; coach has made bags in many shades of green over many years.

The link below is for a crafter on Etsy that will manufacture a leather strap for you in gold leather. I have never purchased her products but you could check out her online shop. Tell her what you need and see what she suggests. Good luck!

Have you had a look at the preloved market or you're looking for something brand new?
Assume you are opposed to a gold chain strap?
Yeah, I would prefer a green leather strap for this bag.

I just want to add my comments in favor of considering a chain strap. I know that a matching leather strap is the most desirable option but it seems unlikely that you will find such a thing. Your bag is small and pretty and I think that a chain strap would be both attractive and comfortable, and it will probably work better than trying to find a green leather strap to match. If you were looking for a black or brown leather strap I would feel more hopeful, but green is rare and shades vary a lot.

I enjoy rehabbing "pre-loved" coach bags and sometimes missing straps can be a problem. I've occasionally found coach chain straps to be a good solution, especially with smaller bags. It's not perfect but I've been happy with the results and I am pleased to carry the bags.

Below are a couple of examples of my rehabbed bags that were missing the long strap and so I've substituted coach chain straps.

This is an Italian-made vintage Beechnut Coach Gracie 4413 from 1996. Her leather strap was missing and I tried to find a replacement without any luck. I consulted a leather worker in a repair shop and he advised against trying to have a replacement strap made. He said that I "would probably spend a lot of money and not be happy with the result." I decided to use a coach curb chain gold strap instead and I know that it isn't perfect but I like it a lot!

This is another rehab project of mine that was missing the strap. It is an Oat Suede Fringe Dinky 86821 from 2017. The original strap was matte silver chain link interwoven with leather but sadly it was missing. I tried using a plain silver chain strap and a black copper chain strap but I didn't much care for either of them. I finally selected a dark gunmetal strap because I thought that it looked best with the bag, and I really like it!

Anyway, good luck with your search and please tell us what you decide to do. Here's another thought, you can always buy a second Coach bag and pick one that has a crossbody strap this time - that way you'll have 2 great bag choices!

I like your point, but if MrsSlocomb is anything like me, a chain strap is just not preferable. It is not always about the comfort although that plays a big part. I stay away because I don't like to touch cold metal in the winter, and it often gives the bag a more dressed up look. Maybe her style is casual and it just looks wrong to her.
I think the best idea is to buy another bag and use the strap from that. I would do it on sale though. I don't think the bags listed are likely to sell out quickly but you never know.

I hope you find the strap of your dreams!

Also, I would just get a black strap with gold hardware. But that's just me. I prefer a mismatched strap.

I never use any of the chain straps. All of the Callie bags come with them, and I use the leather straps from my Dinky bags instead. I also don’t like the chain leather ones that some of my dinky bags came with. I don’t like the heaviness and also one time a chain strap ruined a white T-shirt. It left a stain of some kind.

I buy all of my extra straps from Mautto. They have a great selection of colors, sizes, and clasps.
