If you have a 5k Budget for your first ever chanel bag what would you choose? I’m honestly overwhelmed. Lol knowing that’s still a lot of money and it scares me 🤣

Depends on how much you carry. If you want something classic and under 5k, the classic woc can be a good choice but it doesn't hold a lot. You may be able to get a seasonal bag for under 5k but I think many of them are closer to 5k or over 5k now.

If the $5k budget is daunting…I would wait to make sure you really do want to spend that amount. I have read several posts over the years when newcomers buy that first bag and then are underwhelmed by the purchase and have serious doubts/regrets about the amount spent. The prices do increase but the bags arent going anywhere…so be sure it’s what you want to spend on…

That said…my personal suggesstion (assuming you like the classic style and small bags) would be the Classic Mini. It has all the style of the classic at half the price ( right around 5K) and is versatile from day to night.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Very important is to be able to fit a phone iphone 14pro lol
Car keys and a card holder. That’s all I carry minimal for a night out but more is better too. That’s why I’m hesitating, i was thinking of the chanel 19 woc very cute and also the clutch but don’t know if that holds enough. Dior has options too but chanel is very classic.

Within your budget, a Chanel Rectangular Mini would be my first choice for you. It fits nearly as much as its much pricier cousin the Chanel Classic Flap. Best of all, it's a crossbody bag with a strap long enough to fit over a coat. I have this bag in Black Lambskin and also have the less expensive WOC (Wallet-on-a-Chain) in Black Caviar.

The Rectangular Mini fits everything I need to carry for day or evening without being "stuffed" and has the look of a Classic Flap without the price and without the nuisance of it slipping off my shoulder. The WOC fits much less, but can be expanded with the addition of a flat base available on Etsy. The reason I have both is that the WOC can be worn underneath a coat and without that flat base is very sleek. Other advantages of the WOC are that it can slip into a suitcase for traveling; slipped into a tote and used as a wallet; can be a short shoulder bag with the strap doubled under the flap; and with the strap slipped inside it becomes a clutch.

For your first or perhaps only Chanel bag, my recommendation would be to opt for Black. Whether you choose Lambskin or Caviar is entirely up to you. In my experience, Chanel's seasonal bags don't hold their value, while Mini Rectangulars and WOC's have much better resale value.

A black mini can be difficult to find, a mini in any color is difficult to find. The mini is wider but the WOC holds almost as much IMO, I own both and love both! My first Chanel was a WOC and no regrets here. Good luck!

Thank you. This is really helpful. Hopefully the mini flap is not going to be difficult to find so I can try it on.

definitely a wallet on chain - it comes in at almost half your budget and i get sooo much wear out of mine. probably my most worn bag of all time. it's great for the day, great for the evening, very comfortable. i don't carry much though. if you want a bigger bag i'd recommend going the pre-loved route as you will get pretty great bang for your buck these days.

I agree with those saying classic mini for the look and practicality but I prefer the look of caviar over lambskin. Seeing as the classic mini doesn’t come in caviar anymore I would opt for either a seasonal caviar bag in mini size or a caviar wallet on chain.

I am happy to report I finally got what spoke to me at the Chanel Boutique 😍
Thank you for all your replies it really helped a lot.
I got the wallet on chain in grained leather
And also a very cute and perfect for the season card holder.
Although I’m not too sure about which collection this Woc belong to.
