Omg im so happy. I finally bought a birkin 25!! This was of course pre owned in epsom leather around 2005. A little bit of scuff at the corner but I love her so so much. She's so cute. Also got the stamp of authenticity from bababebi this morning so I'm over the moon.

Now I have questions,
Do you ladies leave the sangles out from the metal ridges when you're using the bag ? Why or why not. I'm scared of scratching the metal plates if I keep them in the ridges.
Although this bag is almost 20 years old the metal still looks so shiny .

When keeping the birkin do you buckle everything up ie move the big flap and close everything or do I just leave it open?

I've never had a brown bag before. If I wear a black coat will I get colour transfer ? Or do I have to exclusively wear lighter colour coats ?

Do you tie 1 twilly on the handle or is it overkill if I tie both handles? I want to preserve the handles you see. =)

Anyway I'm so happy. thanks for replying.

COngratulations!!! i am so happy for you tooo.
1) I leave sangles in.
2) when i store the bags, i leave sangles out and lay them flat without using turnlock. I feel pulling hte bag closed and locking can cause the leather to curve inward a bit on mine which are togo.
3) you will only get transfer if your coat transfers dye. it doesn't matter what color the coat is or the bag. you can do a test and rub your coat with cloth/paper towel. does it transfer color?
4) i use my birks like totes and almost never buckle fully unless in a situation where i need the security/pickpocket potential
5) it is your bag and your joy. tie as many twillies, bag charms and what not as you want or not. have fun, it is a bag!

I hope you use her for many years and with great happiness!

Congratulations! She is GORGEOUS! For twillys on my birkins, I always use one on each handle so that both are protected. To be honest, I rarely use twillys on my handles, but I do like to buy them, because they are so cute/pretty.
If I gave myself more time to get ready, I would probably use them more.

I came back to add that I do not lock up my birkins when I wear them. I keep the flap tucked in the back of the bag. I also secure the sangles in the brackets.

Congratulations on your beautiful birkin!
I don’t own a birkin so can’t give you advice. But I really like yours and can’t believe that it’s 20 years old as it looks like new.

Congratulations! Beautiful bag! :balloon:

1. I try to avoid having metal rub on metal, and since I use inserts and usually carry the kitchen sink in my bags, my sangles are almost always out.

2.The flap is tucked in back and I generally carry the bags open like a tote.

3. When I store my Bs I pull the sangles out of the front slots completely so they have no tension and can rest, and stuff the bag with acid-free tissue wrapped pillows so it’s block-like and fully supported but not taut, and the accordion folds on the sides can rest. You’ll want to unwrap your handles when you store your bag, and remove anything that might cause a dent when you lie it down. Also be sure to store her in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.

4. I would echo the other posters, either wrap both handles or leave both unwrapped so they wear evenly.

Happy day :)
