Hello
I am planning to add a first bag from LV in my designer handbag collection, and I really need help because I honestly don't know what model to choose :confused1::confused1::confused1: They are so many pretty and so many not my style.
An everyday bag, not too small but not too big. Any advice? Give me some!! What bag do you have as an everyday bag?
XOXO, Emma

Tell us how you wear your bags: handheld, shoulder, crossbody, etc.?
Do you want leather or coated canvas?
Price point?

Hmmm, I would say crossbody and handheld mostly. Pricepoint in the midrange, not sooo expensive.. Lol, Its my first LV bag!
Maybe more canvas, but leather is absolutely fine too.

What about a Speedy B 25? It's a classic and works well as a cross body, roomy enough for a daily bag, and you can detach the strap if you want to go handheld
Thank you. I will have a look at that one. I was looking on google and they have Rose Des Vents PM, and I so love that bag but the price...... and it says the orange color is Limited edition so I am not sure I will make to save up for it but any tips on bags similar design for everyday other than the speedy you mentioned?

How exciting!
I agree, Speedy B is a nice handheld but also crossbody. It fits a lot and is a classic. It’s also fairly readily available in a number of prints and of course, comes in many size options.
Another option, could be the beloved pochette Métis. I just got this bag for myself and am loving it as an everyday bag. I wear mine crossbody predominantly but also on the shoulder. I grab the top handle when I’m grabbing to pick up my bag but I can easily see myself using this handheld (although the handle is too short to wear on the crux of your arm). Again, it comes in lots of prints. However the canvas is hard to get and there have been some quality issues (which I’m ok with because I love the bag).
Good luck in deciding!

Thank you!! I was actually looking at the Pouchette Metis, but is it not too small as an everyday handbag? About the issues, I am sure LV will replace it if it gets defected, as many who had this problem got it.

I think you should mention what the minimum essentials are for you. My idea of minimum is phone, wallet, and keys. Favorite mm and pochette felicie make the cut as an "everyday" bag for me. I would also give a budget with an actual number. "Midrange" can mean different price points to each person. For example, boite chapeau souple is $2.3k but its half the volume of neonoe which is about $1.6k. The $2.3k makes the bcs "midrange" but in reality, it's a high price for what it is when compared to other lv bags. Giving us more info and numbers helps us get a better idea of what sizes/styles may work for you at a price you're happy with.

Not my first picks, but most people pick from either speedy or the neverfull line for their first lv. Both styles come in different sizes. Another good starting point, I feel, is either pochette felicie or favorite mm. It's the lower end of prices for their bags and they're small, but I feel like you still get an idea of what the brand quality is like and what to expect from it. If you like the size but can shell out more money, neonoe bb or clapton backpack is about the same size as the pochette felicie and favorite mm. The straps on clapton are adjustable to be shoulder or crossbody. They can also be removed.

Bags that are a bit bigger than those two are boite chapeau souple, cannes, mini palm springs (backpack, crossbody, shoulder), montaigne bb, speedy 25, and a bunch of others. In this size range, my recommendation for intro bag would be montaigne bb. It doesn't have that much vachetta detailing for you to fuss over. It's not as common as speedy but its still a pretty timeless design, in my opinion.

If you want to go even bigger, lymington, neonoe, graceful pm, montaigne mm, alma pm or mm, etc. You can always buy a strap to make a bag crossbody or shoulder. Within this size range, I really like neonoe. No vachetta to worry about and you can really fill it up. There are some cons to this bag but it's good as an intro bag to lv.

I'm assuming you don't plan to go this big, but the large bags are keepalls, artsy, neverfull and speedy can get large, graceful mm, propriano, rivoli, flower tote, etc. Artsy, speedy, and keepall have my vote for large bags. They work great as travel bags since you can stuff them under the seats on an airplane. Not all the bags can be squashed like that (neverfull mm and gm).

You mentioned really liking the orange rose des vents pm bag. The first bags I thought of were Hermes birkin and kelly, especially because of the bright orange. It is a gorgeous bag in person (rose des vents), but if I'm being honest, I would rather save up and buy Chanel or Hermes instead. Rose des vents falls on the small-middle sized range of lv bags... Montaigne bb would be your closest size at half the cost.

I agree about the Speedy B25. Can be both crossbody or handheld and is lightweight. Comes in three canvas prints or leather. The DE has no vachetta leather so it's good for year round wet weather.

Have you been to LV? What appeals to you? I can sort of tell you have no idea of the products in reality, and you do need to try in person especially for a first bag. Pictures are deceptive about what things hold, how it looks on you, what you might find annoying with the closure hardware, etc.

Get in and try things. The Rose des Vents, for example, is both thousands of dollars and a very unlikely first-time, everyday bag.

Of course, I know but the closest LV store for me is in another satte 4 hours away, with train and right now I can’t go there. I am left with an online store only... :(

For me it’s actually one of my bigger everyday bags. I normally carry my pochette accessoires (with the PM strap) which is even smaller. I only switched to the PM more recently in order to carry my larger sunglasses. However, typically I carry: cardholder as my wallet, 6-ring key holder, iPhone, small pouch, compact, mints. Basically I don’t carry much. I find the PM roomy. I probably could fit in one diaper for my little one too in a pinch. A big reason I really love the PM is also the back zipper pocket which is so handy slipping in my phone without having to open the whole bag. Anyways, I think it’s a great everyday size but I guess it all depends on what you tend to carry.

Yes but if you don't make the trip you will have to order 3-4 handbags just to try on and *maybe* keep one?
I suggest for you to wait until you can make the trip, I can assure you it's not a waste of time. I always wanted the Neverfull however on me it looked like a beach bag. I went with the intent to buy the speedy B 25 but then it wasn't for me as the opening is quite small and it looked small on me so finally took the 30 (I'm 1.70cm 55kg and my previous everyday bags were MK Selma large).
Also an everyday bag to me means a versatile bag I can wear morning at work to evening in bars (so handheld AND crossbody) that I can put in everything i might think of, even ipad or A4 papers, so that then limits the choice.
During the past 6 months I had gone to Dior, LV, Gucci and YSL with the intention to buy a WOC or smaller bag just for going out but backed out because I will never use it as everytime I go out even on bars or parties I have to get Wallet (zippy), keys, iphone XS max, car keys, pills for allergies, asthma medicine (because you never know where a cat has sat before), hand sanitizers, tissues, pens, chewing gum, airpods, small perfume sample spray. So these that are the absolute essentials to me don't fit in any WOC or small bag.
Therefore I stay with my "starter" speedy B until I decide to buy a bag like Grenelle or Miss Dior when I am mature enough to take care of it.

This is a very fair point. I started with Speedy B30 in DE and Mono but once I tried the Speedy B25, I liked the look much better on me plus it didn't sag like the 30 can. I think both have their uses, the 30 holds a LOT. But size and proportion can make a difference so whether you choose that or some other bag, a visit to the store sure can help. Also checking out youtube videos which often include modeling shots at the end. Another example is the Damier Azur print which I love but do not own yet. I really love the Speedy B style but denim can tint the Damier Azur print since the Speedy B wears lower on the body, so another thing to just be careful of with that print.

Thank you everyone for your insightful comments and tips as always so helpful.

I am actually thinking to stay in line instead for a Monogram Reverse Canvas Pochette metis. Everybody talks so good about that bag, and its beautiful. I actually saw that Brasil have in stock on their LV online store. Maybe a tip for everyone else in Brazil, or someone with family members there?
I will wait for my own country to have it. They told me to call in July as the list was full, so I don't think I will get the bag soon, but as I said, I will have to wait. Hope its worth it!

AND OHHH... Thanks Tinder on the forum here for commenting!! Me as a newbie, because of you I googled the Pochette Metis up, lol and fell in love with it. I knew that was the bag! My first one for sure.. Lets see in the future.
