I'm curious. When I look at bags online i'm often puzzled about the sparsity of information available! Weight for instance is not often mentioned, and shoulder strap length even less so. It feels that such details would be important, specially considering the cost of luxury bags. What kind of details are important for you when you shop online? Or would you always go check it out in store anyway?

I rely on tPF, PInterest, YouTube reviews and blogs if the sellers' sites don't give out enough information. Usually the bags aren't available around here - if I can't find enough information online to get me to pull the trigger I might go to NK Stockholm to check the bag out on my next trip. They have most of my fave brands for sale.

Weight is important to me and as you say, very few on line sites mention it.
On the other hand, the dimensions are not always accurate.

It's not easy. I would agree with all of the previous suggestions. I guess you could always call the merchant, especially if it is a B&M store. But it's very frustrating trying to get the details.

When buying 2nd hand or an older season it becomes even more of a mission!

It would be nice to have:
dimensions
a guide as to how the measurements are done
weight
handle drop
strap length shortest
strap length longest
main material
lining material
construction type (soft, semi-structured, structured) (?)

Anything else thats vital?

I think they do it on purpose so it is not as easy to replicate but I totally agree with you. It would be nice to have a little more info about the bags. I do like it when websites have a model or silloutte of a person wearing the bag and a snapshot of what can fit like: iPad, glasses, umbrella, wallet......that gives me a better idea of size and what it can hold. That helps me more than dimensions.
