Is there a corner of the forum already dedicated to an appreciation for felted wool bags? I searched and couldn’t find one. That surprised me, since there’s a felt bag for every taste from cleanly minimalistic, to cutely whimsical, to elaborately artistic. I also like that they cost less than their leather counterparts, offer a market for indie artisans, and provide a vegan option.

Celebrate the felted wool bags!

Never seen these types of bags, but i love the color of the first & the last is stunning!
So many questions- how do felted bags hold up in bad weather?
Do they pill rubbing against clothes?
Do they get fuzzy? How do you clean/maintain them?
Are they lightweight or heavy?

I don't know. I have yet to get my first one. I went searching TPF for answers to these questions, and did not find them. My thought is that if they do pill or get fuzzy, at this price point I can afford to replace them more frequently. I would also like to know what kind of cedar wood or other kinds of repellants would I need to keep moths out of these bags, or maybe wool felt is more resistant to moths than my knitted wool sweaters? There has got to be a community of felt bag enthusiasts out there who can share their wisdom and enjoyment with us.

This thread got me looking on Google… and funny how well tPF’s SEO works @Vlad , this very thread is on page two of my Google search results! I like what I’m finding about recycling wool sweaters. Felted wool is a pretty great medium for bags.

I need to correct myself by saying that wool is NOT vegan. Just like honey and eggs, wool is still an animal product and therefore strict vegans would probably not carry a felted wool bag. On the other hand, unlike all my leather bags, no animal had to die for me to carry felted wool.
