I have an appraiser (whom I very much trust and respect) ready to examine my replacement diamond, and just by looking at what I have sent him already (ASET, photos, scans, etc) he thinks it's amazingly nice. That's really comforting!

So yesterday I decided to head to Tiffany's just to see what I liked and didn't before I set the stone.

I tried on a solitaire the same size (1.14 c) as the "chosen one", and a few other things. I also tried on a bezet ring, which was also almost the same size...and I personally did not like it. Yes it adds size (at least 1mm) but....it just isn't my taste.

I also tried on a 3 stone with rounds. I do not care for the proportions they mandate...the center is 1.06ct and each side is .53ct.

I was able to sneak a few photos with my apparently crappy camera phone.

The solitaire is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Like you, I'm not crazy about the three stone and I think the solitaire looks better on your finger.

Whatever you decide to pick, wear it in good health! :flowers:

thanks!!!

i will be doing a solitaire for sure. I just did the wire transfer so it should be on the go soon.

And for the PSers who know me: I will wear this more. I promise. I still have my 30x though.

Of these pictures, I think the solitaire is nicest on your hand. The bezet looks a little chunky, and the three-stone is kind of overwhelming. Don't get me wrong they are all gorgeous but the solitaire looks so elegant on your hand!!

I agree, that three-stone is nuts. My husband was like "that's ridiculous. it doesn't even look like 3 stones!". I think the solitaire was an easy choice.

Of the three, the bezel was my favorite with the solitaire next. However, I love bezel settings because they are very modern and clean. The three stone was pretty, but I agree on proportions- just not very pretty. It was kind of clunky and big.

The solitaire looks great!! Will you be getting a diamond wedding band? As you know, I like a "bit" of bling:graucho: Step away from the 30x...it can only lead to trouble, ame:nono:

LOL...I cannot promise. I did tell myself that while I will carry it with me, I won't have the ring box as well. Just a little suede tiffany pouch for when I have to remove them.

Yes I actually already ordered the band from SP. I just got the same thing I had before with 2 extra stones this time. They are on a 3-4 week timeline and I ordered it on Friday the 25th (?) when I got the settlement money. I figured if I had either of these rings by Halloween I would be ok, sooner the better though!

Good news on the SP band!! Now I have to pass one of my weirdnesses onto you...sorry:shame: Don't put both of your rings into one pouch, unless one of the rings is in a small plastic jewelry baggie or wrapped in a small soft cloth. Since both rings have diamonds, they could scratch each other:shocked: This will help avoid compulsive use of the 30x. I can't wait to see your new set. Please post e-ring, if you have that sooner:smile1:

We definitely share that weirdness--I plan to do separate for sure....no way would I put them in the same pouch! I already have a few that have a good separation between the sections but that was really not enough for me, no risking moving around. When I did the ring box, I had the two-slot box and I always had my w-ring upside down, diamonds inside for that very reason. But I will definitely be doing 2 pouches for sure.

I am hoping to know tomorrow how long it will be on the setting to come in actually. Stone is paid for, I still have to pay for the setting though. That's just a plain platinum cathedral setting. If the setting is only a few days, hopefully that can get set and off to Richard Sherwood pretty swiftly, he's a 5 day turnaround. I am dying to see this thing and I hope that the SI2 is really eye clean as they all say. When I wired the money I almost had a heart attack and this morning I have been freaking out too, hoping I love it.

I guess that weirdness loves company;) I'll be looking for your e-ring thread in the near future! Should you, sadly, have a heart attack, I will gladly babysit your rings until you feel better:graucho: I can't imagine that you will see any inclusions with your naked eyeballs. Will that be acceptable to you?

LOL at the babysitting.

As long as *I* can see nothing I will be ok. My other one was SI2 but only because of the indented natural, that one was prongable. So if I can't see anything in this from any view in any light from say 4-6" away from MY eyes, it's good. Otherwise itll go back for a lower color SI1/VS2. I did explain MY definition of eye-clean so I hope they looked at it from that mindset.

That's great ame! I'm very close to my replacement as well!

I am going to look at one more Tiffany's solitaire in an H, but it is looking like the winner might be the 1.26/G/VS2 classic! The 1.14 looks gorgeous on you - yay!! I also just ordered a platinum spacer ring to separate it from my eternity band - if that doesn't work out I'll have to think about re-setting the band. But am beyond excited!!!

Can't wait to see your finished ring!

ps what is a 30x? :)

A 30x is a jewelers loupe with 30x Magnification. Diamonds are graded with 10x magnification, this is 20x stronger. I check my rings constantly for any little nicks, dings, or leftover dirt.

I have had JewelerOnTheRoof bookmarked in my etsy favorites for like 8 months now. I need to get one of the 1mm bands. Since those classic solitaires have the "donut" thing at the base, you could have the 1mm band made with a small "dent" out of one side, so that it nestles against the donut and then is smooth on the other side for against the diamond band. That's me thinking out loud.

That 1.26 is gonna be awesome!!! Great color/clarity combo also.
