I have been shopping around for some standard routine skin care treatments in Seoul mostly focusing on lasers and boosters (not considering fillers for now). Visited a bit more than 10 clinics and it seems pricing is all over the place; further every clinics has their own product and device preferences which make it hard to compare. That said a few clinics stood out that seem to be very busy and somewhat affordable while others seem more premium. My classification so far:

Low-cost / high-volume:
  • Muse (more tourist focused)
  • JFeel (locals)

Medium:
  • Wooa Plastic Surgery
  • VS Line
  • Lienjang
  • Theme
  • IL Clinic
  • ME clinic

Premium:
  • AMOA640
  • Modelo
  • Clinique Hushu
I am mostly interested in segment 1 given my needs are pretty standard and I plan to return on a m in yearly if not quarterly cadence for maintenance.

With that said, looking for some input:
  1. Are there other clinics in segment low-cost / high-volume I should consider?
  2. Anyone has any positive/negative experience with the clinics listed in segment 1 right now being Muse of JFeel?
  3. Any other considerations you think I should make before making a decision>?
Thanks in advance!

I went to Sinsa Egg clinic and got botox and whitening injections - the price is cheap (can check online) and you get to directly consult with the doctor who speaks good English so I highly recommend. I don't think it's particularly targeted to tourists since all the other waiting customers I saw were Koreans.

I went to Muse and I liked it. The location in Gangnam is super busy and very large but all I cared about was price and doctor skill. It’s not a relaxing spa experience but it’s easy and affordable and transparent pricing. Don’t forget to ask for tax refund and bring passport. I got Rejuran, skin Botox and Exosomes so no lasers but next time I will try those too.

I went to another smaller clinic as well for Rejuran and brow micro blading but they don’t really see any foreigners so it’s a little more work communicating. Similar prices to Muse.

I’ve also been to ME clinic for laser stuff (hair removal and tattoo removal) and it was good too. Much smaller compared to Muse and for certain procedures may be cheaper (I’m looking at Thermage next trip and I think it’s cheaper at ME even though they are way more expensive for other stuff). Prices are online and they respond to emails pretty promptly if you need a personalized quote.

Good luck!

Oh I work around Sinsa, will check this out. How did you contact them? Are you comfortable sharing what you paid?

Great input; seems like you had a positive experience in all three? Muse is always super busy indeed but also seems well operated. MeClinic was very crowded with locals when I went so thats a good sign. Would you recommend both Rejuran and Exosome?

can i ask what kind of skin type you have and how those treatments helped your skin out?

Yes I did think all three were good. I think it’s about having appropriate expectations and also doing as much research as possible beforehand so you hopefully have an idea of what you want / what treatments are available. I can imagine if you don’t do much research and then just ask them for advice you might get upsold on stuff you later might decide you didn’t want?

I liked the Rejuran, Exosomes not sure if they made any difference. I also did skin Botox and I recommend that too. Next time I would just do Rejuran and skin Botox and maybe a laser.

I have aging skin (early forties) that is in pretty good condition so I was mostly looking for anti aging, skin health, brightness, better looking pores. Rejuran healer is supposed to help with regeneration, overall brightness and skin health. Exosomes are similar but they are applied topically. Skin Botox makes pores look smaller and tighter and regulates sebum. It’s often credited for why Koreans have “glass skin”.

My skin is definitely glowing and looking great but I have a very regimented skincare routine with lots of actives and I do micro needling and chemical peels regularly so it’s all synergistic. Hard to attribute one procedure or product as the holy grail because I had 3 things done that have similar effects but if I had to rate them I’d say 1)skin botox, 2) rejuran healer 3 Exosomes. Skin botox is more immediate effect and Rejuran and Exosomes are longer term so difficult to compare.

So skin botox in this context is injected across the full face vs in the traditional sense to tackle certain wrinkles areas? Does it get charged as one package and is there a difference in what botox is used? Do you recall what you paid for it at Muse? Muse recommend for me rejuran, oligio and eptq fillers. JFeel, RF laser and ultracol. I am also early 40s but average skin. Biggest concern is actually re-gain some volume/collagen as I stay pretty lean and would qualify as a sunken face I guess.

Yes skin Botox is shallow injections across whole face - not into muscles for freezing. You can choose which neuromodulator you want. I paid extra for Xeomin but you could do it cheaper with a Korean brand. If you ask about skin Botox (they call it dermatoxin on their website) they will know immediately what you mean. I think I paid 99,000krw (Xeomin) for it as Muse. It’s considered its own package item. It’s expected to last approximately 3-6 months (at most) but results are pretty immediate after a day or two.

I don’t know all the things they recommended to you but depending on the location on your face I would recommend exploring Sculptra for your sunken areas (vs HA fillers). Maybe this is the eqtq filler you mentioned? It’s longer lasting and made for volume loss in temples, cheeks / nasolabial folds. It stimulates your own collagen vs adding HA volume immediately. Less likely to look over filled or have movement over time of HA filler.

That’s a long list of items they recommended. I’d definitely do your research on the merits of each one and decide if it really applies to you before committing.

For Rejuran they say best results after getting it a few times (usually two weeks apart). Depending on your expectations might not be worth it if you can only do 2ml once. (I did 4ml twice.) Some other skin procedures are like that too where one time won’t show much difference but a series will (gentle peels, some lasers, etc)

I just had a consultation with Hushu and was shocked at how rude the receptionist/office manager was. Extremely condensending because I guess she thought I was a waste of her time. The doctor was friendly though. However, if a place is going to be a high class Clinic they need to offer high class service. The pricing there is definitely higher than the US if that is something anyone wants to know.

I did have a couple of local Koreans tell me not to go to a clinic but only dermatologist. So I checked out a few and liked Chang Dermatology. Great service, although the doctor was a little awkward. But she was informative.

If you still want to try a clinic, I really liked MiracleO for facials. I will be doing their Reactor program at a future trip.

Oh forgot the mention, LJ clinic you listed, if you go there make sure they actually do your facial. They had two women jumping from client to client and mine was not properly completed. I did get partially refunded.

I am doing Rejuran also. 1cc eyes and 4cc face. Just finished my second round and I got a nice glow. I don't think it works for melasma like everyone suggested, but going to give it time.

For botox and fillers you can also checkout Toxnfill, Maypure, or BSL Clinic. I have not been but they have deals and a lot of folks go to these places.

where did you end up going?

I went to muse for their shurink and inmode, the place did feel like factory but price is pretty cheap for treatment and they get the job done. If you want to be pampered like in a spa, better to look at a different clinic.
