Well the time is coming when I am going on the first trip in a long time. I am a recent luxury convert and so have not ever travelled with a luxury bag. Do you all take your nicer bags on vacation? Which is your favorite? We are going to Las Vegas but for a sports tournament with a bunch of teenagers so definitely a casual trip. Thanks!

Sounds fun. I love concerts and sporting events. I prefer to wear crossbody bags or totes. I've taken my D&G tote, Bal and YSL camera cross body.

Yes, it will hopefully be fun. I was very nervous about going, esp with my daughter not vaccinated, but she will have gotten her shots by then which is a huge weight lifted. Being on the plane and in a huge arena filled with people still is a little unsettling.

Have travelled with YSL camera bag and also Gucci Camera bag. These come out for the day trips or outings within a holiday. For the flights and longer hauls I also tend to travel with a larger tote. My favourite for the past few years has been a Bally canvas tote. Unfortunately this has been flogged and overloaded to death during my many travels and has started to look worse for wear.
I also often use a slim bum bag worn crossbody as well as a fun hands free alternative. On a huge three month trip across the US about six years ago I flogged a largish, squarish hot pink nylon Moschino bum bag which was just gorgeous. I still have it but unfortunately it’s looking a bit colour transferred / over-loved now. I have a cool YSL black crinkled leather Niki bum bag which I love but tend to hoard (‘saving it up’) and also have two favourite very slim leather Rebecca minkoff traditionally-shaped bum bags from some years ago which have a proper belt buckle and are very slim and stylish with a huge great tassel. (black and tan colours).
Love all these bags for travel and can’t wait to read other responses!

In the past I traveled with my PA in DE or mini PA and the Cles. But I would use these as wristlets or pouches in a backpack and maybe used it as a crossbody if I needed something lightweight (or if I was going to a nice dinner). I have the MPA now so I'd probably bring that in the future. For larger bags I'd prefer just a backpack or a Longchamp tote. I have a NF but I feel better with something with a zipper. I also don't feel comfortable shoving it through the security checks at the airport. For roadtrip type trips, I just bring whatever fits for the situation.

In the past, my go-to tote for carry on is the Longchamp Le Pliage (not luxury, but just so lightweight and versatile). We are going on our first post-COVID trip in a couple weeks (!!!) and I'll be trying out my recently acquired, first ever Neverfull (Black Empreinte) in place of the LP. Hopefully the lack of a zipper doesn't cause issues for me.

For actual bags to use, it varies depending on the destination, but I usually pack my Chanel Reissue (understated) and a WOC (which I use as a wallet in my tote). Both can be worn cross body and dressed up or down. I generally use a Chanel WOC for concerts or sporting events that allow small bags in general and I have a an ecco cross body bag that is within the NFL's strict bag size limits. But reading the bag restrictions these days is key...I've seen some events with "No Bag" policies lately, so be sure to check. Have fun!

I never would have thought of the bag restrictions, THANK YOU!! Off to check now.

Has to be LV?
No, any brand! Just curious what others normally do as I am fairly new to luxury handbags and mostly have LV. Have used my Longchamps in the past (have too many to count) but considering bringing a more expensive bag! Considering putting my essentials in my PA and using that in a mid size tote for daily stuff then putting a chain on it for dinner.

I prefer to travel with Pacsafe - a carry-on and a crossbody to pack in it. If I know I'll be needing something dressy while away, I'll also pack my BV Montebello wallet on chain.

I take luxury bags because that's mostly what I have (I haven't been anywhere for a while though)

I think you should look at Hermes Evelyne, I hardly take mine off, I think it would be perfect for casual vacations.

Out of my collection, I use (or would use) the following crossbodies for travel:

  • Proenza Schouler PS1+ tiny (has everything I need: pockets for organization, outer back pocket for phone, and handle)
  • Coach Cassie (love for the same reason as above, I just bought a second one!)
  • Balenciaga Mini City (a little too small for the daily things you need for travel, but okay if you travel very light)
  • Bottega Veneta Nodini (it’s a great crossbody and roomy for the size, but doesn’t have a handle)
  • Roots Village (Canadian brand, super durable and cheap especially on sale, I’m on my third, unfortunately no handle either)
  • Longchamp Le Pliage (both the large tote and neo crossbody - light, easy to pack and wipe down)

My friend uses a LV Georges BB for travel and it’s probably one of the most beautiful LV crossbodies I’ve seen, so you can look into that one too
