Faux leather, Vegan leather, PU, PVC, Pleather??

Does anyone know the differences between faux leather, vegan leather, PU, pvc, and pleather? Are some names of the same thing?

I see all these bags and shoes these days that are vegan leather, was wondering if that's a marketing gimmick.

Do you care if a bag is genuine leather or not? I'm on the fence about this and am looking for more information on what's better for quality, durability, and the environment. Thoughts?

All those "names" are terms for the same thing. To call it 'vegan leather' is a marketing gimmick.

Please do a search on the forum for other threads about this as you'll find many, most that have ended in arguments, as people feel very strongly about vegan vs. non-vegan.
